Wesley 'Wes' Karl Duncan, (born in 1980 in Sonora, California), is a Nevada attorney, Republican politician and a Major is the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He served as First Assistant Attorney General of Nevada from 2014 to 2016 and as a Republican member of the Nevada Assembly from 2013 to 2014. He also practices military law as an Air Force Judge Advocate at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV.

Early Life & Education

Wes Duncan was born into a working class family in a historic mining town near Yosemite National Park. Wes' father was a 42-year employee of the United Parcel Service, as well as an active member of the Teamsters. Wes' mother was a teacher's assistant at his high school.

After high school, Wes stayed home to attend community college while earning an AA from Columbia College. He later transferred to University of California, Berkeley, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree.

Wes later attended The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law, where he received his law degree.

Military Service

After graduating from law school, Wes was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. While serving on active duty, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and worked at the Central Criminal Court of Iraq. He assisted Iraqis with the prosecution of extremist groups and terror suspects, and "gained a greater appreciation for the American justice system and the importance of the rule of law to protecting a nation's citizens." After four and a half years of active duty service, Wes entered the Air Force Reserves. He currently holds the rank of Major.

2014 - Reelection and Appointment as First Assistant Attorney General of Nevada

• Wes Duncan won reelection as Assemblyman of District 37 with over 61% of the vote.
• Adam Laxalt, who was elected as Attorney General in the same election, asked Wes to serve as First Assistant Attorney General of Nevada. Wes accepted the new post and resigned his position as Assemblyman on December 4, 2014.

2012 - Nevada Assembly District 37

• Duncan was unopposed for the 2012 Republican Primary, due to the perceived difficulty of defeating Democratic Assemblyman Marcus Conklin, who was on track to become Majority Leader of the Nevada Assembly.
• On November 6, 2012, Wes Duncan defeated incumbent Marcus Conklin with 14,969 votes (51.5%), who had held the seat since 2003.
• Duncan was named Freshman Legislator of the year for the Assembly by the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Family Life

Wes lives with his wife Jennifer and their two sons, ages four and three, at their home in Las Vegas, NV. Wes met Jennifer while they were both serving at Nellis Air Force Base.

Wes enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and serving his local church.
