  • Geniusfind - categorizes topic-specific search engines and databases.
  • Gimpsy - A directory organized by activity.
  • GoGuides - One of a couple of directories that supplanted Disney's Go.com directory after it closed.
  • JoeAnt - A community of editors from the now-defunct Go.com volunteer edited directory.
  • LookSmart - Operates several vertical directories.
  • NZPages - Regional directory of local NZ websites.
  • Open Directory Project (aka DMoz or ODP) - The largest directory of the web. Its open content is mirrored at many sites, including the Google Directory.
  • Skaffe - Another directory formed by former Go.com editors.
  • Starting Point Directory - A human edited general directory organizing sites by category.
  • UK Pages - Regional links to local UK business websites via town or city.
  • VFunk - Online directory that specializes in listing and categorizing global dance music & urban lifestyle listings.
  • Wikidweb - A volunteer-edited, wiki-based directory that does not employ a fixed hierarchy of categories.
  • World Wide Web Virtual Library (VLIB) - The oldest directory of the Web.
  • Yahoo! Directory - Their directory was the first service Yahoo! offered.
  • Zeal - Volunteer-built web directory, first appearing in 1999, and then acquired by LookSmart in October 2000. Looksmart shut down the Zeal website in 2006.
