Hey people grading me! The things I'm adding to the Lotte Reiniger article start BELOW THIS LINE!!

Biography

Reiniger wrote instructions on how to construct her "trick-table" in her book, Shadow puppets, shadow theatres, and shadow films. [1]

Prince Achmed boasts backgrounds by Walter Türck, special effects by Walter Ruttmann and Berthold Bartosch.[2] (edits to current article, plus citation)

[3](Additional citation for her leftist politics)

Died in Dettenhause, Germany, 1981.[2] (added citation here)

Art Style

The Adventures of Prince Achmed specifically adapts fantastic elements to take advantage of animation to show things that could not be shown in reality.[2] Reiniger considered animation's separation from the laws of the material plane to be one of the greatest strengths of the medium.[4][5]

Reiniger's work bears distinct aesthetic similarities that of German expressionists, such as Wegener, Wiene, and Murnau.[4]

Filmography

  • 1934 -- Das ghestohlene Herz (German name for The Stolen Heart)
  • 1935 -- Die Jagd nach dem Glück (Hunt for Luck)
  • 1935 -- Der scheintote Chinese (The Seemingly Dead Chinese) (corrected year)[6]
