Black Orc

Black Orcs are a sub-breed of Orc from Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy wargame. They are a mutant offshoot of Orc, magically created by Chaos Dwarf sorcerers in an attempt to engineer a superior slave: an even bigger, stronger and tougher Orc who was not subject to the petty fighting and bickering of a normal Orc. They succeeded, but the Black Orcs were too strong-willed, so they led a revolt and many of them escaped from the Chaos Dwarf kingdom.

Black Orcs are bigger and more dangerous than normal Orcs, which makes them top of the heap in Orc society. Being more organized and generally smarter than regular Orcs, Black Orcs settle all their differences the night before the battle via head-butting duels and goblin-tossing contests. In battle, Black Orcs characters continually watch out for internal fighting in their unit. Should their menacing presence fail to keep the lesser greenskins in line, the Black Orc character will start smashing some heads together. Order is quickly restored at the minimal cost of a few greenskin lives.

As virtue of their size, Black Orcs get the best weaponry and armor and are always in the thick of the fighting. They carry as many weapons as they can get their oversized hands on.

The strongest of the Black Orcs is the warboss Grimgor Ironhide, is seen as the new "git" by many orcs, and his right hand Borgut Facebeater thinks of his general as Gork himself, so serving Grimgor is like serving directly under Gork. Grimgor led numerous campaigns against Skaven & Dwarfs, and more notably, the failed attack on Kislev. He also proved mighty in the Storm of Chaos where he knocked Archaon to the ground, proclaiming he was "da best!". His personal Bodyguard has accompanied him from the Blasted wastes with him, and allowed him to conquer rival Tribes. During the conflict, his personal Standard bearer, Taugrek the Throttler arose. Black Orcs are likely based in large part on the Uruk-hai (which translates as Black Orcs) from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
