Shenpen Rinpoche in Vienna 2004

Shenphen Rinpoche is the spiritual teacher of Buddhist Congregation Dharmaling. He was recognised by Kharnang Monastery and Sera-Jhe Jadrel Kamtsen as the Tulku of Gendun Rabgye.[1] He was a monk for 23 years (from 1986 to 2008) ordained by Khensur Geshe Tekchog, Getsul by Kyabje Thubten Zopa Rinpoche and Gelong (Bhikkhu) by Tenzin Gyatso the 14th Dalai Lama.[citation needed]

Activity in Slovenia

From 2004 to 2012 Shenpen Rinpoche was very active in Slovene public life, registering a Buddhist religious community[2] and entering a proposal of law to establish a clearer separation of church and state in a predominantly catholic state.[3][4] He maintained close relations with prominent political figures in Slovenia, including the then president Janez Drnovšek, and received Slovene citizenship as a religious leader.[5]

In 2012, media reported a knife attack by unknown perpetrator on Chatellier.[6] From 2012 onwards, Slovenian newspapers have alleged that he engaged in sexual and financial misbehavior. Furthermore, Slovenian police alleged that he staged knife attacks against himself in Slovenia.[7]

Having returned to France, Chatellier has strenuously denied as false the allegations published in Slovenian newspapers.[8]
