WIXT is an AM radio station broadcasting on a frequency of 1230 kHz and licensed to the city of Little Falls, New York. It has a format known as Tony FM 99.1.[2]

WIXT is owned by Galaxy Communications.[3]

History of WIXT

At the start of the 21st century, WIXT was part of a four-station simulcast known as the "Sports Stars Radio Network" that was owned by Clear Channel Communications under the call sign WLFH (for Little Falls and Herkimer, two of its primary communities). In 2005, as part of a company-wide rebranding, television station WIXT (channel 9) in Syracuse changed its call sign to WSYR-TV, and Clear Channel chose its Utica stations to park the WIXT calls to maintain control of them.

In 2007, Clear Channel divested its Utica stations, with WIXT being one of the stations transferred to Galaxy Communications. It initially retained its sports format.

History of Tony FM

On September 8, 2016 W256AJ FM translator broke from its WRNY simulcast to become variety hits-formatted Tony FM, a simulcast of WKLL HD2; an fm translator may not operate independently, but must have an originating station. In this case both WKLL HD2 and WIXT fulfill that requirement. WIXT became part of the Tony FM format on March 23, 2018.[4].
