Amp'd Mobile is a mobile phone service launched in the United States in late 2005. The company is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator and operates on the Verizon Wireless CDMA EV-DO network.
Because the Amp'd Live service works on Verizon Wireless's EV-DO network, the content is not available on the more wide-spread 1x parts of the national network. This was not mentioned by Amp'd initially. But after some complaints a disclaimer was added to their home page. This EV-DO limitation is one put into effect by Verizon for their VCast service. Sprint Nextel does not have this same kind of limitation for their own 3G MVNO's Mobile ESPN and Helio .
Its primary non-Venture Capital investors are MTV Networks and Universal Music Group. The service is targeted at 18-35 year olds.

Amp'd Live
Amp'd mobile's service is built around Amp'd Live, a permanently installed BREW application on all Amp'd Mobile phones, which features downloadable and streaming video on-demand clips, live events such as Super Cross, streaming phonecast radio stations, downloadable content such as games, ringtones, and songs. They are currently the only carrier licensed to show clips from the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
