Zheng's enthusiasm with stage performance comes from his mother, who is a Beijing Opera actress. During childhood he was often brought to the back stage and started to get familiar with theatre. He saw musical for the first time when he was a middle school student, when his mother took him on a trip to Beijing for the first performance of [[Cats (musical)]] in China.
