The Sagar is a Hindu Rajput caste.

History and origin

Sagar were traditionally ensecters claimed of Ramchandera higher status using Hindu administrative procedures. With ancient and origin Truth they claimed to be officially recognized as सगर.[1] Language[2][need quotation to verify]

Present circumstances

The Sagar have three territorial divisions, the Sorathia, Gurjjar, and Mewari. There are connubial and commensal relations among the four divisions. The Sagar are further divided into clans called ataks, the main ones being Gohil, Beladiya, Solanki, Chauhan, Aajani, Parmar, Nanera, Karena, Got, Gajnotar, and Piprotar. They are a community of large to medium sized farmers, with many now beginning to migrate to the cities, and are in the process of getting urbanized.[2]

It's said that their ancestor have a very long record, the origin of this caste have a very near relation with the origin of the River Ganga in India.[3]
