Changing username/Simple
This page is a forum in which users can request, and global renamers (including stewards) can consider and carry out, requests to rename accounts to usernames that are not yet taken on any Wikimedia project. While global renamers carry out renames, other users (including bots) help by "clerking" the mechanics of this process. If you wish to help as a clerk, please read the linked page carefully. Instructions For help 'vanishing' from Wikipedia, please see courtesy vanishing. Once you have decided on the name you would like: Read this page first. You must be aware of, and understand, all of that information before requesting a username change Check to make sure this username is not already in use. Do this by searching for the name here. If the name appears in the results, even if on another Wikimedia project, it is taken. Do not create an account under the new name or move/redirect your userpages. We'll do that for you. Log in with your present username in order to place your request. Renames will not be approved if the requester is not logged in. Click here to place your request. Add your desired username after NEW= Add a reason for the change after REASON= Do not change anything after CURRENT= Make sure that you have spelt your desired name correctly, including capitalization and spacing. Save the page. If your request is submitted malformed, please remedy it according to this page. Check back on this page periodically to answer any questions that may arise regarding your request. Please be patient. It may take a few days for your request to be completed. If you do not answer any questions, your request may be declined due to no response. Once your request has been completed, please do not remove or change your request. It will be archived automatically by a bot. Due to technical limitations, usernames may not start with a lowercase letter. However, you may use the template {{lowercase title}} on your user and user talk pages, and change your signature to reflect your preference. Underscores and spaces are considered identical by the MediaWiki software. Use of a company, organization, group, website, or product name as a username is prohibited by the username policy. @Moviemanandy: It looks like you are confused with usernames and article names. Well these are two different things and it is not necessary to have username same as article in order to work on a article. • Reason: Nice and easy username to remember, easier to type, and who wouldn’t want a username like this? I wanted User:3 but that isn’t eligible for usurpation, so I would like to have this username which hasn’t been registered yet (somehow). Also, the username “61” is very important to me because of Minnesota State Highway 61, and that’s where I go up to in the summer and it’s super fun. I will still refer to myself as PorkchopGMX but I will put a “Ping me with {{yo|61}}“ message in my sig. Everything is possible but nothing is real... • Reason: I've long, long tired of the Blofeld user name and could never previously get a change because of a high edit count. I'm told a move is now fine given an update in the technology. Time for something a bit maturer, classic sounding and suitable. I would prefer the title with the old english æ Encyclopædius, I would presume that Encyclopaedius if typed would go straight to that, or could be redirected but if there is an issue I'll grudgingly go with a regular a and e.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:52, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: I believe you will need to create a separate account and just redirect it to your main one if you want to claim both "spellings". With that in mind, would you still like to go with Encyclopædius? Nihlus 16:33, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

@Dr. Blofeld: Yes, I would rename you to Encyclopædius. You would then create a doppelganger account at Special:CreateAccount and just create the other spelling. See my doppelganger account as an example. I will go ahead and rename you to Encyclopædius. Nihlus 16:42, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

• Reason: I am using this account for school related work and activities. Many of my classmates keep mistaking my current username for oedipus rex and not odious rex. Due to the story of oedipus rex (I hope who ever responds to this knows the story) it is causing some issues between myself and my classmates.
