I read that she has AIS...true?

place of birth

Swank's birthplace is listed as Lincoln, NE and also Bellingham, WA. Some sites say she was born in Lincoln and grew up in Bellingham. Others quote her as saying she's a "midwest girl." There is some debate over where she was born, but it was Washington. She said she was born in Nebraska in order to get the part in "Boys Don't Cry", because that was where the main character was born.

In an interview in Interviu Magazine (October 2004), she says that she was born in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Birth announcement in the Lincoln newspaper reports the birth of a girl Swank on Jul 30, 1974 in Lincoln General Hospital. (ancestry.com) Questors 02:40, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish and Native American?

Does anyone have a REALLY, REALLY good source for this? Like a REALLY in-depth interview or profile? It's just that I'm certain this originated on the IMDB, and then got copied around the net like wildfire. IMDB profiles have gotten really lazy in fact-checking, and dozens of pieces of info like the "Spanish and Native American descent" thing have been proven wrong. I think this might be another one. How and when was the Spanish and Native-American thing proven wrong?

It was never proven wrong - I said similar bits of trivia relating to actors' ancestry from the IMDB have been proven wrong. The problem with this one is that there seems to be no first-hand source - like an interview with Swank or something like that - where she mentions her ancestry. Of her four grandparents, two seem to have German names (Swank and Obenour). Her maternal grandfather Clough's parents were from IA or Missouri for a coupple generations and Ohio and Maine before that. The name Clough is English. Hilary's maternal grandmother was born in California as were her parents and grandparents. She was of Hispanic ancestry. Questors 03:02, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
