Prof. Subodha Kumar is a Paul R. Anderson Distinguished Chair Professor of Marketing and Supply Chain Management (with joint appointments in Information Systems and Statistical Science) at Fox School of Business, Temple University. At Temple University, he is the PhD. Coordinator for Operations and Supply Chain program and the director of the Center for Data Analytics. [1]

Kumar is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief for the Production and Operations Management Journal, a top journal in the field of operations and supply chain management. He is the founding executive editor of Management and Business Review journal. He is the author of "Optimization Issues in Web and Mobile Advertising: Past and Future Trends,” which summarizes the state of the art research on web and mobile advertising. Kumar's research interest include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain, Fintech, Healthcare, Social Media and Web Analytics, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Software Management and Cybersecurity, Sequencing and Scheduling.

Kumar is an award winning professor who has received several awards for research, teaching, and service to the academic community.[2][3] He is regularly invited by media to provide his expert opinion on matter related to social media, marketing, and business management. [4][5][6]

Education and Academic Career

Kumar received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from BIT Sindri, India. He later went on to get his masters in technology in Industrial and Management Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He received his MBA and PhD (2001) in Management Sciences and Information Systems from University of Texas, Dallas.

After his PhD, Kumar started as an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at Foster School of Business, University of Washington. He later joined Mays Business School at Texas A&M University in 2009, where he held Mays Research Fellow (2012), Shelley and Joe Tortorice '70 Faculty Research Fellow (2012 – 2013), Carol and G. David Van Houten, Jr. '71 Professorship (2013 – 2017).

Kumar is currently the Paul R. Anderson Distinguished Chair Professor of Marketing and Supply Chain Management at Fox School of Business, Temple University. He also has joint appointments in Information Systems and Statistical Science.[7]

Research and Editor Positions

Kumar's research interest are in the field of business analytics, information systems, operations management, and supply chain management.

Kumar has published 55 in premier peer-reviewed scientific journals including Operations Research, Management Science, Production and Operations Management, Information Systems Research, Journal of Operations Management, European Journal of Operations Research, Decision Science, and Journal of Scheduling. In addition, his work is published in 84 peer-reviewed conference proceedings. He authored six business school case studies in the domain of operations and supply chain management.

Kumar holds a patent (United States Patent # 6,556,893, Approved on April 29, 2003) on “Robotic System Control,” along with N. Ramanan and C. Sriskandarajah.
