Subodha Kumar is the Paul R. Anderson Distinguished Chair Professor of Marketing and Supply Chain Management (with joint appointments in Information Systems and Statistical Science) at Fox School of Business, Temple University. He is the Founding Director of the Center for Data Analytics and the Ph.D. Coordinator for the Operations and Supply Chain Management program.[1] [2]

Kumar is the Deputy Editor for the Production and Operations Management journal, a journal in the field of operations and supply chain management.[3] He is the Founding Executive Editor of the Management and Business Review journal.[4] He is the author of Optimization Issues in Web and Mobile Advertising: Past and Future Trends, which summarizes the state of the art research on the web and mobile advertising.[5] [6] He has also co-authored other book chapters. [7] Kumar's research interests include artificial Intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, fintech, healthcare, social media and web analytics, operations and supply chain management, software management and cybersecurity, sequencing and scheduling.[1][2]

Kumar has received several awards for research, teaching, and service to the academic community.[8] [9] He has been invited by media to provide expert opinion on matters related to social media, marketing, and business management.[10][11][12]

Kumar has published 55 papers in scientific journals including Operations Research, Management Science, Information Systems Research, Production and Operations Management, MIS Quarterly, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Management Information Systems, Decision Sciences, IIE Transactions, European Journal of Operational Research, and Journal of Scheduling.[14] In addition, his work has been published in 84 peer-reviewed conference proceedings.[15] He has co-authored six business school case studies in the domain of operations, supply chain management, and information systems.[16]

Patent

Kumar holds a patent (United States Patent # 6,556,893, approved on April 29, 2003) on “Robotic System Control,” along with N. Ramanan and C. Sriskandarajah.[17]

Writing

Kumar is the author of Optimization Issues in Web and Mobile Advertising: Past and Future Trends]”, which summarizes the state of the art research on the web and mobile advertising. [5][6] He has also co-authored other book chapters.[7]

Kumar holds and has held several editorial positions at premier scientific journals including[18][better source needed] Deputy Editor for Production and Operations Management Journal. He founded the POM-IS Interface Department at Production and Operations Management Journal and is the department editor. He co-founded the Disruptive Technologies and Operations Management Department at Production and Operations Management Journal and is currently the co-department editor. He is the Guest Editor for several special issues at Production and Operations Management Journal including Managing Autonomous and IoT-driven Intralogistics Operations; Business Analytics: Emerging Practice and Research Issues; and Disruptive Technologies and Operations Management, and Founding Executive Editor for Management and Business Review Journal. He is a guest editor for a special issue on Innovation in Supply Chain for Journal of Operations Management. He serves on the Editorial Board at the Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Database Management, International Journal of Social and Organizational Dynamics in IT, and International Journal of Mobile Device Engineering.

Awards and honors

Kumar has received several honors for his scholarship and service to the academic society. In 2019, he was elected to become a Production and Operations Management Society Fellow, which is considered to be Production and Operations Management Society’s highest recognition.[19] He also received Sushil K. Gupta Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) Distinguished Service Award for his service to the academic society.[20] He also received the Association of Former Students University Level Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching, Texas A&M University, 2016. This award is among the most prestigious awards at Texas A&M University.
