Mark Andrews Pixar

Heres my source on why I edited him out of the upcoming Pixar movies list https://forum.pixarpost.com/post/2022-projects-10636642?&trail=15 https://www.pixarpost.com/2019/10/pixars-next-7-films-2020-2024.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.170.248.187 (talk) 18:18, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Neither of those are reliable sources. Pixar Post seems to be a self-published source with little editorial oversight, and the first link is a web forum. Look for official press releases or news organizations instead.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 22:01, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

But they literally learned this when they visited Pixar, theyre reliable theyre good people — Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.170.248.187 (talk) 20:04, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

According to who? Anyone can claim to have visited Pixar, and I can't just take your word for it that the source is reliable. I bet they're good people, but for Wikipedia's standards we need sources with a track record of reliability.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 14:40, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to NSNA

Hello - I was in the process of Updating the NSNA page and all the edits have been removed. Current president history etc. I linked the sources so the information could be verified. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.113.54.235 (talk) 01:16, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Currently, all the information is out or date. Should I update the information without links to the organization? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.113.54.235 (talk) 01:19, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. There should only be one external link on the page, which goes to the official site in the External Links section (see WP:EL). For the article body, use reliable, independent sources to back up every claim. If you don't know how to create references, see this guide for how.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 01:25, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ok -- thank you so much! I am editing again and leaving out the external links. Thank you so very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.113.54.235 (talk) 01:37, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lambda Phi Epsilon edits

Hi Ganbaruby, you recently removed edits I provided to the Lambda Phi Epsilon Fraternity page, claiming that there were unreliable sources used. Can you tell me which sources you believe are unreliable and why? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Catbunny12 (talkcontribs) 21:41, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ganbaruby, I've looked over the reliable sources page you linked me. Although you said that social media and press releases are not reliable sources, the links that I provided to social media and press releases were directly from the organization of Lambda Phi Epsilon themselves, thus, making them a primary document. Additionally, these sources and edits are not breaking news because LPhiE themselves has had these documents published for weeks already. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Catbunny12 (talkcontribs) 21:50, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Catbunny12: First of all, your Google Drive reference isn't considered reliable, as there's no way to verify the authenticity of whatever's in it. Some other claims didn't have a source either, like the @anon.co2020 bit or the no announcement bit at the end. Primary sources should only be used in moderation; in general, we want to use secondary, independent sources to back up your claims.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 21:56, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Ganbaruby, I will look for further references. Catbunny12 (talk) 22:09, 10 September 2020 (UTC)Catbunny12[reply]

Help Please!

Hi Ganbaruby, I am brand new to Wikipedia editing and am having some trouble. I made some edits to the R Programming Language page that were flagged as vandalism. These were good faith edits, and I think they contribute to the page. I see that you were the last person to edit that page. Are you available to help me? Green red tan (talk) 22:39, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Replied at talk.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 23:19, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cbliu changed all the Green line stations to Hanyu Pinyin

Hey- Cbliu changed all the Taichung metro stations to Hanyu Pinyin, despite the fact that the city council of Taichung said they were using Tongyong Pinyin for naming at least some of the stations. (for instance, Jioujhangli metro station was changed to Jiuzhangli metro station by Cbliu). Is there some way to revert this? Thanks for any help! I find that the only way to reason with Hanyu Pinyin advocates is to add copious citations proving that a non-Hanyu Pinyin spelling is being used- see my work on the districts of Kaohsiung and Tainan. Geographyinitiative (talk) 13:51, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Geographyinitiative: I know they did. I'm not in a hurry to move it again because the names are not finalized and have changed many times already. The Tongyong announcement was quite a while ago; the August 24 update is that the names will "follow existing road signage" [1], which is confusingly in Hanyu Pinyin. The names will still go through two more review before being finalized, so for now I think it's ok if we just have redirects and both transcriptions on the side. Sometime near opening I'll go through all of them to make sure they're correct.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 21:32, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for paying attention to all this! Geographyinitiative (talk) 21:55, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Template edit page

Hi Ganbaruby! I wonder if you could go on the edit page for the template with the title "Western classical music periods and eras" and find out the "name", which is apparently different from the title. The name I'm looking for appears near the top of the edit page just under "{{sidebar". The only reason I haven't been on the edit page myself is I can no longer go there simply by clicking the "T" button at the bottom of the displayed template. It's a long story but it seems to be a result of the accident I had about a week ago trying to edit the original title. I can now only access the edit page by typing its full url (including the name, but not the title) into the address bar at the very top of my computer screen. Because of the mishap, the only url that appears automatically is that of the aborted template which has the title placed where the name should be, so all I'm getting instead of the edit page is a notice that the unwanted template has been removed. Many thanks!ChrisCarss Former24.108.99.31 (talk) 09:50, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ChrisCarss Former24.108.99.31: Not exactly sure if this is what you're asking, but Template:Western classical music eras's |name= parameter is now updated. See if that works.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 13:09, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Actualy it's even better than I asked for. The update has restored my full access to the template edit page so I don't have to do it manually using its url. Everythings back to how it's suppposed to be; many thanks again! ChrisCarss Former24.108.99.31 (talk) 05:33, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

anagrams

there is NO WAY of telling whether the anagrams are intentional or not.

as Syd is not here.

non intentional agagrams are possible.

it makes no difference whehter they are intentional, they are THERE.

please do not use your prejudices to censor.

thanks Jim — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:2EAE:3B01:E8A7:5A77:9DC7:BE89 (talk) 08:40, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well that just looks like original research to me. WP:RS still applies.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 08:45, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Message from User:George Koul

Hey Ganbaruby,

I noticed your previous replies, I'd like to just tell you a sorry and that I apologize for the mistakes I issued. It is my first day here and I haven't seen everything. I hope you have a good time. George Koul (talk) 14:06, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your help desk question

You didn't get a response to this question which I just saw. Did you ever solve the problem? I wouldn't know how but I hate to just let questions go unanswered.22:52, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

@Vchimpanzee: Ah, that discussion kinda died down and seems to be resolved somewhat. It's all good now. Thanks for checking in!  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 01:18, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sojourner Truth -- Edits re Elizabeth Catlett Statue

Hi Ganbaruby, thank you for considering my edits so promptly!

So that the vandals don't have the last word, I think it's important to include the statue's restoration and current installation at the Crocker Art Museum. To verify the email you could contact the sender at the Crocker Art Museum: Helena Roberts, Visitor Services Representative, Crocker Art Museum: (916) 808-1184, cam@crockerartmuseum.org

Let me know if you want me to ask Helena to email you directly.

Also I found mention of the statue on the Crocker's Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/crockerart/photos/a.135957062088/10158642655422089/?type=3

I appreciate your help!

@Olivebranch2: No, that doesn't qualify as a source either, as private emails fundamentally fail Wikipedia's verifiability policy, as there's no editorial oversight involved, and not everyone has access to this source. Facebook is also not a reliable source. Instead, check the reliable sources guideline to see what kind of sources qualify.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 01:09, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
