Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, is a Nigerian monarch. He is the 47th and current traditional ruler, or Deji, of the Akure kingdom. He was proclaimed as Deji in 2015, holding the regnal name Odundun II^[1] succeeding the deceased Oba Adebiyi Adegboye Adesida

Early life

He started his elementary education at St. Patrick School, Aponmu Akure He then proceeded to Oyemekun Grammar School Akure where he received his secondary school certificate (SSCE). He graduated as an Architect from Florida State University in Miami, United States

Professional career

He is a prominent member of the Nigeria Institute of Architects^[2]. He is also one of the founding member of Architects Registration Council of Nigeria ARCON. Oba Aladetoyinbo had a Masters degree from the Prestigious Morgan State University, USA. He has given public lectures in higher institutions like Obafemi Awolowo University, Adekunle Ajasin University regarding the role of youth in governance.^[3]

Selection and coronation

Oba Aladetoyinbo was selected from the Osupa Ruling House of Akure^[4], amongst indigenes who were also heirs to the throne on 17 June 2015. He received his staff of office on 17 July 2015. He has been described as an ‘Epoch of Peace'. Oba Aladetoyinbo is the spiritual leader of the Akure people now saddled with the responsibility of making supplications to God and the Òrìṣà on behalf of his tribe and the world at large during annual festivals such as Ulefunta^[5]

Achievements

Shortly after his coronation, Oba Aladetoyinbo met with the Ooni of Ife, Sultan of Sokoto and by so doing indicated a reign of unity amongst traditional rulers in Nigeria.

Personal life

Oba Aladetoyinbo hails from the Osupa ruling house, and was born on December 20, 1956. He is the 3rd child in a family of Ten. Aladetoyinbo is blessed with many children.
