Sasural Simar Ka

Sasural Simar Ka 2 (transl. Simar's in-laws 2) is an Indian television drama series that premiered on 26 April 2021 on Colors TV.[1] Produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms, it serves as sequel to Sasural Simar Ka, which stars Dipika Kakar, Radhika Muthukumar, Tanya Sharma, Avinash Mukherjee and Karan Sharma.[2]

Plot

Set in Agra, the story revolves around the Narayan sisters, Simar and Reema and Oswal brothers, Aarav and Vivaan. Geetanjali Devi Oswal, the matriarch of the Oswal family asks her grand-niece to find two perfect daughters-in-law for the Oswal family who don’t have any ambitions except for keeping the family happy. Simar comes across the Narayan Sisters and find them perfect, even though they are far from what Gitanjali expects.

Production

Development

The filming of the series began in March 2021.[3]

Casting

With the release of first promo, Dipika Kakar was confirmed reprising her role of Simar Bharadwaj.[4] The makers also approached Shoaib Ibrahim for reprisal of Prem's role, while Jayati Bhatia was signed to reprise her double-role as Mataji and Gitanjali Devi Oswal.[5] The cast from the first season will only be shooting for a few episodes in order to introduce the new leads of the show. [6]

Avinash Mukherjee, Tanya Sharma, Radhika Muthukumar and Karan Sharma were selected for lead roles besides Kakar and Bhatia.[7]

Filming

Based on the backdrop of Agra, the series is mainly filmed at the sets in Naigaon, Maharashtra while in April 2021, several sequences were shot near the Taj Mahal in Agra, due to the lockdown in Maharashtra.[8][9]

Release

The first promo of the series was released on 21 March 2021 featuring Dipika Kakar.[10]
