Wikiproject Video games Newsletter survey

Hello Roberth! I'm conducting a feature for the video games newsletter similar to that of a survey. The question is: How do you determine what makes a video game character notable enough for their own page? Do you follow pre-existing guidelines or have your own opinions on the matter?

Lists of cancelled games

Hi, I'm concerned that your continued attempts, sandboxing, and creations of lists of cancelled games (really, any lists of games), is getting to the point of disruption.

It would probably be a good idea to stop creating those. This is a friendly note, but if you continue, you may end up topic banned from lists of games, and possibly all video games and lists. --Izno (talk) 03:55, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'll delete the current list I have on my sandbox, which wasn't even going to be its own article (i was doing the 32X list to later integrate it into the main 32X game list). Game Machine charts

Hi KGAMR. Great work with the Game Machine arcade charts! Thanks to your work, I've been taking an interest in arcade game charts lately. However, one issue I've noticed is that you usually wrote something along the lines of "Xth most successful arcade game of the year". However, the charts are not referring to the entire year, but only to individual months (or half-months more specifically). I've corrected a few articles to say "Xth most successful arcade game of the month". However, there are too many articles to correct. The magazine was published every two weeks, and the list is measuring general popularity. The magazine surveyed arcade owners who responded with what are the most "popular" games in their arcades. It's probably most accurate to say "X game was listed as the Xth most popular game in Japanese arcades on a biweekly survey published by Game Machine on DATE"...or something like that... Monthly charts?

So is it confirmed that these aren't yearly charts at all? There are just too many games that claim to be the 3rd biggest game of the year, etc. It's highly midleading. 92.25.189.171 - You could change the text as TarkusAB suggested. The Game Machine references are used to demonstrate the game's overall popularity in Japan. They are biweekly rankings, not annual. They reflect current game "popularity" as collected through arcade owner surveys. I wouldn't say remove it, but reword it to be accurate when you come across it. TarkusAB^talk/contrib 04:05, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Covers

Hello! I wanted to discuss something with you regarding Akai Katana. You have switched the NA cover with a JP arcade cover, which I reverted to how it was, due to my edit comment (we are editing on English Wikipedia). If you wish, you may revert me again, and I won't oppose. Similar thing seems to be happening with Arcana Heart (video game), which has a NA cover for the PS2 version. Your comment about this matter is highly appreciated, as I feel we shouldn't use foreign covers unless it's needed (for Japan-only releases for example).

Also, fantastic work on so many new articles! The depth you are reaching for to catch every source possible covering those particular games...just wow. Kudos, and keep doing your thing! Regards, Jovanmilic97 (talk) 13:17, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Jovanmilic97:I know both titles have their NA cover arts but since both titles were originally arcade titles released in Japan, i felt it was right to upload their respective arcade flyers but that does not mean that I don't like your work. I hope you understad my reasoning. (P.S.: IIRC, there's a line somewhere in Wikipedia that states that the original cover of a game should be used no matter the region where it came from [i.e. the Japanese Akai Katana arcade flyer]) (P.S.S.: i had a brainfart when writing this reply but i forgot to also say the fact that i upload the original cover of an article doesn't mean that I don't like the work of other editors that upload alternative covers) Roberth Martinez (talk) 14:39, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Help with a draft

Hey! Awesome to see that you're still working to expand the Spanish game coverage on WPVG. It's already so much better than it was a couple of years back, but every little bit helps.

Unfortunately, I'm not very active at the moment. Work has eaten up all of my editing time this year. (Looking at my contributions, I see I've only edited twice since February!) I don't plan to stop editing forever, so we'll see when I can make time for it again. That said, I don't expect it will be any time soon. Hello, I noticed the great work you did bringing back the article on ESP Ra.De.. So I was wondering if you could lend me a hand with Espgaluda which was deleted 5 years ago. @Panini!:What i would consider the requirements of making a video game series article? Hmmm... i would say only one and that would be your knowledge and/or interest you have in a particular series. If you're doing it without any passion or knowledge for that particular series then don't try doing it. For franchise articles, try to throw everything at a wall and see what sticks. Potential request for help and advice

Hi, I don't want to much bother (or write to much) on friendly notice. If you can, could you investigate the edits made by unregistered user with accounts 141.136.245.131 and 89.164.199.18 reverted by user FMSky. The edits made by former are I think well made, constructive, analitical and fair but with some mistakes of course; FMSky's edits are possibly result of vandalism and unfairness (and violation of some rules potentially), while the former's aim is to make a correct grammar mistakes (comas, colons, duplicate words (and numbers)) and to make texts comprehensible, smooth and, in some cases, some shortening and so on. The topic is about video game titles (sections Gameplay, Development and Reception, the latter probably not in all articles). I know you are not administrator but if you can check it out; if it is vandalism, then possible revert to all or partial. I went to another user to talk but was mistake (little edits about 40), while you have a lot. Please also refrain from bad unregistered users bias - not all unregistered users are bad (they can be fair and honest) but some are bad ones; it is also for registered (some good, some bad). In addition, I also respect some Wiki rules, even though some of them I am not agreedable with them too much, just calm opinion. You can delete message freely, but before this please read it if you can. If there is another one who can help and understand, well thank you. Peace.
