The result of the proposal was Support VA 37. --Rschen7754 21:14, 30 December 2009 (UTC)`

Virginia State Route 37 — We've also never had a Virginia-specific article on the portal before. Imzadi1979 (talk) 05:31, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Support - Underrepresented state. –Juliancolton | Talk 05:54, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Support - Good lead and picture; state that is not covered well. –CG 18:16, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Support, looks good and meets criteria. Also, I can't recall ever having a selected article from Virginia. – TMF 06:04, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Support - Nice article, the lead could be a little longer though. ---Dough4872 21:45, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Support - on the condition that the citations are cleaned up.Mitch32(A fortune in fabulous articles can be yours!) 22:28, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

The result of the proposal was Support WIS 131. ---Dough4872 03:00, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Wisconsin Highway 131 — A GA from Wisconsin, the another state that's never been on the portal. Imzadi1979 (talk) 05:31, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Support - Wisconsin deserves a blurb on the portal; the article has a strong lead and a picture that can be used for the blurb. –CG 18:16, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Support - The part about the dam differentiates this article (in a good way) from any random road through the hills. Viridiscalculus (talk) 02:46, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

U.S. Route 199 - Recently we've had a lot of state routes, so why not a U.S. route? Also, this would be Oregon's first blurb. –CG 18:19, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Support - Nice article. ---Dough4872 22:26, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
  • Comment — Didn't we have US 5 (CT) back in November? Of course that was selected after this article was nominated. *shrugs* Imzadi1979 (talk) 17:43, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
    • Yeah, but this is from a different state. ---Dough4872 17:48, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Just a comment here in general, but lately, we've been picking articles that only have the shield as the image on the portal. I know photos take up a bit more space, but can't we do something else? There's already 6 shields in the header to the portal, why not run a good photo or map related to the highway blurbs for visual interest? Imzadi1979 (talk) 17:54, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. I think most of the ones the shield is posted as there are no pictures or the pictures were, let's just say less than feature quality. However, maybe having a descent picture should be one of the criteria for selection.Dave (talk) 21:09, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Support US 491. Imzadi1979 (talk) 22:16, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Any suggestions for this special day?

  • U.S. Route 491 — we could try out Dave's idea at writing a funny blurb for the highway that used to be US 666. Imzadi1979 (talk) 12:38, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
User:Davemeistermoab/U.S. Route 491 - main page blurb is the draft of the blurb I proposed for the main page TFA on April Fools Day. Might as well, the main wikipedia community made it pretty clear they didn't get the humor. Don't know if that is my fault for not writing the blurb well enough, or just roadgeek humor is beyond the realm of normal people =-) Dave (talk) 19:55, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Looks good, but do we us the US 666 name for the day, or US 491? Imzadi1979 (talk) 02:48, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
If you use the blurb as written (and feel free to change it) it would be US-491. That's part of the "joke". The blurb is factual, but sounds too sensational to believe until one reads the article to discover US-491 was once US-666. Or at least that's what I intended, maybe that's why it didn't fly in the wider Wikipedia community. Dave (talk) 07:38, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
  • Comment - We used US 491 for a regular selected article already. Why don't we try some other route with a number oddity? Possibilities could be something that is numbered weirdly in a numbering system (like I-238 from last year) or a route that has something else out of the ordinary. ---Dough4872 19:03, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
    • On the other hand, I wouldn't mind using the blurb Dave created, since its comical in nature. ---Dough4872 19:23, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
      • We don't exactly count the AFD portal content against the tally for "regional balance", so why shouldn't we run the former US 666 for one day, in a different light? in 2008, we pasted in the entire article content of a stub article, OK-251A. Last year was I-238 for AFD, which didn't have a very comical blurb. About the only numbering oddity we could do off the top of my head is I-99, but I would only support that with a funnier blurb than last year. (This is why we need to stop thinking of the portal's blurb as being a direct copy of the lead of an article.) Imzadi1979 (talk) 19:40, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
        • Support - Now that I think about it, US 491 would be good to have in the form Dave wrote the blurb. However, it would be more amusing to use US 666 instead of US 491 to refer to the route. ---Dough4872 00:59, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Select I-359, archive US 199 nomination until article can be fixed to resolve issues concerning lead. Imzadi 1979  04:37, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

  • U.S. Route 199 - Previous nomination. A well-written GA and we have never had Oregon before. ---Dough4872 02:18, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
    • Support If we have never had Oregon before, it is a good opportunity to go somewhere new. The highway is also distinctive due to the redwoods. Viridiscalculus (talk) 13:25, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
    • Oppose – article's lead doesn't summarize the whole article, which places the GA status in doubt. Imzadi 1979  02:05, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Select the Interstate List. Imzadi 1979  04:17, 31 August 2010 (UTC)}

  • Utah State Route 68 - An A-class article from Utah. Dough4872 00:32, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
  • List of Interstate Highways in Texas— A Featured List from Texas. It does have a lead section than can be adapted to serve as the blurb for the portal, and several nice photos to accompany that blurb. Strictly speaking, it is a list not an article, but unlike the Main Page, we're not so limited on our portal that we can't use a properly done blurb for this. Imzadi 1979  15:59, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Select Brockway Mountain Drive. Imzadi 1979  01:43, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

  • Brockway Mountain Drive—a county-maintained road with an A-Class article. I'm nominating this here for the uniqueness of a road that isn't state-maintained, and to use File:Brockway Mountain Drive Panorama.jpg for the photo above the blurb. I think that would be a great photo to use for a fall month. Imzadi 1979  15:59, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Select SR 74 (NY-VT). Imzadi 1979  05:28, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

  • State Route 74 (New York – Vermont) - Have not seen NY or VT in a while. Dough4872 03:11, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
    • Support this is a Featured Article, the other is a Good Article. When two articles are from two different states that have not appeared in a while, priority should go to the higher quality candidate. If the FA/A-Class pool were larger and more geographically diverse, I'd skip over the GAs completely for consideration here. The solution then is prod editors into taking their work through the ACR process (and reviewing the other articles there) or ultimately the FAC process as well if they want to get that work selected here. CG, I sympathize in wanting to see your creation here. ACR has been decently active lately, so if you nominated it and helped review others at ACR, we could have your article pass in time for January. Imzadi 1979  15:33, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

    • Comment The last time a WA article was featured on the portal was July 2009, while the last time a NY article was featured was March 2009. As for the last VT article, that came way back in October 2008. I don't really have an interest in what this portal does (I'm more concerned with running the NY one), but I just felt that this needed to be pointed out. – TMF 07:18, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
      • Scratch the VT point; it was featured last November with US 5. – TMF 07:20, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
        • US 5 was actually a CT specific article. Dough4872 23:46, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
    • Support as creator; its been a while since WA's been up because of my inactivity on Wikipedia. I'll be getting more and more active as time goes on. –CGTalk 13:10, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
