Hexagon AB is a global technology group headquartered in Sweden.

The operation is focused on precision measuring technologies and is divided into three business areas: Geospatial Measuring (Surveying and GPS), Industrial Metrology (Hexagon Metrology) and Technologies. The company markets its products and services under more than 35 different brands worldwide. The Group employs approximately 21,000 employees in 50 countries.

Hexagon's operations encompass hand tools, fixed and portable coordinate measuring machines, GPS systems, construction machine control systems, level meters, laser meters, total stations, sensors for airborne measurement, aftermarket services and software systems, such as PC-DMIS.

Hexagon’s macro products are used within construction and engineering industries, while micro products are used primarily by automotive and aerospace industries, medical industries and design industry. Hexagon's other operations focus on supplying components primarily to the heavy automotive industry as well as key components for industrial robots.

History

Hexagon AB was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden and provides products to design, measure, and position objects. Surveyors, government agencies, mapping companies, construction, and security and defense related industries are the primary customers of their services.

Hexagon AB purchased Leica Geosystems in late 2005.[3]

On October 28, 2010, Hexagon AB acquired Intergraph Corporation.

Vero Software is acquired by Hexagon AB in August 2014.

In August 2016, Hexagon acquired Apodius GmbH, a start-up specialised in measurement solutions for fibre composite components and is based in Germany.

In February 2017, Hexagon acquired United States CAE company MSC Software.[4]

Hexagon acquires NEXTSENSE GmbH, a leader in industrial measurement and inspection solutions in May 2018.

On June 20, 2018, Hexagon AB announced the acquisition of SPRING Technologies, a software provider specializing in integrated solutions for optimizing the machining workflow through machine tool simulation, toolpath verification and optimization, and machine tool management.

Blast Movement Technology, a pioneer in blast movement monitoring and analysis for open pit mines was acquired by Hexagon AB in January 2020.

In October 2020, Hexagon Acquired DP Technology Corp., developer of ESPRIT CAM Software.

Hexagon AB purchased PAS Global in November 2020. PAS Global is an operational technology (OT) sensor, data, and analytics company with more than 500 customers across more than 1,450 sites and 70 countries.
