Smrity Shamsunnahar, known by her stage name Porimoni, is a Bangladeshi actress and model. Her notable films include Aro Bhalobashbo Tomay, Rokto, Pure Jay Mon and Swapnajaal. His husband name Shovon Ahmed.

She was featured on Asia's 100 Digital Stars, released by Forbes magazine on 7 December 2020.[1]

Early life

Porimoni was born as Smriti Shamsunnahar,[2][3]. After losing her parents in childhood, she grew up in her grandparents' house in Pirojpur where she completed her Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools Certificates (diplomas).She started working as an actress since 2011. The first co-actor of her was Jayed Khan.[4]

Career

Porimoni started her career with modelling after passing her Higher Secondary School in 2012. Her popular TV commercials are Pran Up with Arifin Shuvoo, Sandalina Soap, Pran Chutney, Topper Gas Stove, Jamuna Refrigerator etc. She acted in quite a few TV dramas as well. Her first Bengali movie, Rana Plaza, based on Rana Plaza disaster,[5] was denied certification by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board stating that this was a national disaster and people might get wrong notions about it.[6] Her second movie Bhalobasha Shimaheen was released on 13 February 2015. She stated, "I am putting my foot on the big screen by Bhalobasha Shimaheen and I hope everyone will like the film." She costarred with Shakib Khan in Aro Bhalobashbo Tomay and Dhumketu.[citation needed]

Personal life

Pori was married to Shovon Ahmed in 2021. In 2019, Pori was engaged to RJ Tamim Hasan , but the relationship broke before marriage.[7][8][9]

Controversies

In June 2021, Pori Moni claimed an attempted rape and murder on her[10][11] and asked Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for justice in her Facebook post.[12][13].On 14th June, the main culprit of this case Nasir Uddin Mahmood, a politician of Jatiyo Party along with 3 girls and another criminal Tuhin Siddique Omi was arrested by Bangladesh Police.[14] Pori Moni, who alleged a bid to rape and kill her at the Boat Club here on June 8, has now been accused of vandalism at another club. Gulshan All Community Club President K.M. Alamgir Iqbal, told at a press conference on Wednesday, alleged that Pori Moni have vandalized the club on June 8, and that a complaint had been filed by the club.[15][16]
