Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.
Uncontroversial technical requests
Draft:Royal Dental Hospital
- Draft:Royal Dental Hospital (currently a redirect to Royal Dental Hospital) → Royal Dental Hospital (move · discuss) – publish new article over redirect without history. TSventon (talk) 15:40, 26 July 2021 (UTC) ----
- Arandu, Pakistan (currently a redirect to Arandu) → Arandu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (move · discuss) – Geographic disambiguation from Arandu, Gilgit-Baltistan, which is another town with the same name in Pakistan. Khestwol (talk) 11:11, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- Judy Garland as gay icon (currently a redirect to Judy Garland as a gay icon) → Judy Garland as a gay icon (move · discuss) – Grammar (e.g. "Janet Jackson as a gay icon") Aranya (talk) 13:27, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- List of shopping malls in Greater Longueuil (currently a redirect to List of shopping centres in Greater Longueuil) → List of shopping centres in Greater Longueuil (move · discuss) – Many of the shopping centres listed on this page do not fit the description of a shopping mall. Of course they all are shopping centres which has a broader meaning. 198.103.184.76 (talk) 15:18, 26 July 2021 (UTC) {{{sig}}}
- List of shopping malls in Montreal (currently a redirect to List of shopping centres in Greater Montreal) → List of shopping centres in Montreal (currently a redirect instead to List of shopping centres in Greater Montreal) (move · discuss) – Same reason as above. 198.103.184.76 (talk) 15:22, 26 July 2021 (UTC) {{{sig}}}

Contested technical requests
- Northgate Public Services (currently a redirect to NEC Software Solutions) → NEC Software Solutions UK (currently a redirect instead to NEC Software Solutions) (move · discuss) – Current page title is misleading as the company was bought out by NEC and name changed to reflect the membership of the new corporate umbrella. Retaining the previous name is confusing as company no longer has anything to do with Northgate. Folk309 (talk) 11:38, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- It's usual when companies change names to retain former names, and to establish WP:RS for the new name. May be too soon for a move, but anyway the former name is useful and not confusing. That is why we have
{{R from former name}}
. 85.67.32.244 (talk) 15:23, 26 July 2021 (UTC)- This wasn't a simple change name. The company was bought out by NEC. Retaining the old name would be tantamount to keeping Microsoft Azure title if Google bought it out and put it under its corporate umbrella. The current company has nothing to do with the Northgate umbrella and all to do with NEC, and that is reflected in the name. Furthermore, there are sources in the article itself about the name change. Folk309 (talk) 15:50, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

- Vadda Ghalughara → Sikh holocaust of 1762 (currently a redirect back to Vadda Ghalughara) (move · discuss) – Undiscussed page move with a dodgy edit summary. Raymond3023 (talk) 15:20, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
- Comment - Move was over 6 months ago and since then had a RFD closed as keep. It may be best now to open a new discussion on the affected talk page. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 16:45, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
