Edward "Ted" Hankey (born February 20, 1968) is an English darts player who won the BDO World Championship in 2000. His nickname is The Count. He is happily married to Sarah, they have a three year old daughter and a baby boy born June 1st 2006. He and Sarah live in Telford with Ted's eldest daughter (16 years old) and Sarah's son (8 years old).

Hankey was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, and built up a large fan base due to his obsession with Dracula. His entry onto stage is typically marked by him wearing a gown, while he plays his darts with a trademark scowl.

In 2000, he whitewashed Ronnie Baxter 6-0 in the Embassy World Final, winning the match with a spectacular 170 checkout - which was the highest in the tournament. Ted reached the final again the next year, but lost to John 'Boy' Walton 6-2.

Hankey hasn't made another final since. In 2002, Hankey was knocked out in the 2nd round by Wayne Jones and suffered a first round exit the following year by 'Silverback' Tony O'Shea. Ranked number two for the 2004 tournament, he was knocked out in the Quarter Finals, again losing to O'Shea 5-1. This was a huge disappointment for a man who had won four Open events in the last year. Hankey again reached the Quarter Finals in 2005, losing to England captain Martin Adams 5-3 having led 3-1. In the 2006 tournament, 'The Count' had a bad day in the office and crashed out at the first hurdle to Dutchman Albertino Essers. Hankey was seeded 8th for the 2007 Championship and defeated Mario Robbe of the Netherlands by 3 sets to 0 in the first round. He then hit another 170 checkout in his tight 4-3 win against qualifier Davy Richardson, before losing to Martin Adams, again by 5-3 but he had several darts to stay in the match. However, he remained positive after the match.
