Moved notations of uncertainty to here; other edits
In the body of the article, there are a few places marked something like
- (not sure that is correct; DE Jan 2007)
apparently by Delleray. Rather than adding comments to the actual article, these should be tagged with something like {{cn}}, and any discussion should go here on the talk page. I've made a couple of clean-ups and taggings.
In general, this reads a lot like a company newsletter. The of events like the headquarters building consolidating from three to two floors, or the half-day dip and recovery in stock price on December 12, 2005, may be lost on many readers.
There's still quite a bit of POV here (e.g., "This may have been a step too far") which I haven't altered.
I wasn't sure what "psaring" was -- whether this was from an initialism such as PSAR that needed explanation, or a misspelling of "sparing" (which, if so, would also need clarification as to what it means in this context).
I removed all wikilinks to MDIS since it seems like they'd all resolve back to this article in any event. --NapoliRoma 19:34, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Notable?
The article consists almost entirely of details of the history of the company, at a level of detail and triviality which is unlikely to be of interest except to the company itself. It seems to me that well over 90% of the article is completely un-notable. Is there any reason it should not be very heavily cut? JamesBWatson (talk) 10:39, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- No, we shouldn't cut it yet. NIS is the current repository of the Reality Operating System, the first working example of the Pick System, originally owned by Microdata. When I get time, I will edit the article. --RoyGoldsmith (talk) 13:18, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well, the article has in fact had all the surplus material cut out since I wrote the above comment, and I don't see how anyone could read that comment as applying to the article in its present state. JamesBWatson (talk)
History section is too long
Just now (October 2009), I minimally prosified this article that used to be a long list of events. However, the history section really needs to be cut down, as it is nearly the entire article. (The section also has some parts, such as the sentence described above, that can be considered original research. I would like to see a specific, separate section listing the company's major and current products and how they are notable. The article could probably be improved to less than one-third its current size. And what other aspects of the article could be improved, other than its length? How to pronounce
there is a long debate over how to pronounce the name of the company now known as NorthgateArinso. Many now say it as North-Gate A-rinso, however, the correct way would surely be Northgut (like highgate) and Ar-inso with accent on the r. it's pronounced "garbage" and "wasted opportunity" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.44.6.59 (talk) 21:08, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
