Kavin Bharti Mittal is an Indian internet entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of Hike.

From 2012 to 2018, Hike built a SuperApp centered around messaging to bring India, a mobile-first population online. At its peak in 2018, Hike reached 30M+ monthly active users and had raised over $250M in capital from the world's top investors Tiger, Tencent, SoftBank & Foxconn. [1][2][3]

In 2018, the market dynamics shifted removing some of the constraints they were building for as incredibly cheap data (4G) and very high-quality subsidized smartphones flooded the market. The smartphone was now the SuperApp and a SuperApp itself was no longer needed.[4][5]

In 2019, they decided to pivot the business[6][7] and are now focused on building Rush, India's most exciting gaming universe. A place that channels the competitive spirit of India where consumers can Play, Compete & Win. Rush by Hike is believed to be doing over $10M+ in Gross Revenue ARR.

They are actively building Rush as a Web3 platform so that consumers can become owners in the network to participate in the economic upside of the platform and help shape the future of the gaming universe.

In August 2021, they announced an undisclosed round of round of funding from some of the world's most iconic and top product builders and investors:[8][9]

  • Justin Mateen, Sean Rad (co-founders, Tinder)
  • Rajeev Misra (CEO, Softbank Vision Fund)
  • Lee Fixel (Addition)
  • Arjun Sethi (Tribe Capital)
  • Aditya Agarwal (South Park Commons)
  • Mark Pincus (founder, Zynga)
  • Bhavin Turakhia (founder Radix, Zeta, Flock)
  • Binny Bansal (co-founder, Flipkart)
  • Kunal Shah (founder, CRED)
  • Kunal Bahl, Rohit Bansal (co-founders, Snapdeal)

Early life

Kavin Bharti Mittal is the son of Sunil Mittal and his wife Nyna Mittal. He has a twin brother Shravin and a sister Eiesha. Kavin completed his Master's in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Management from the Imperial College London.

Career

Kavin interned at McLaren Racing, Google and Goldman Sachs during his Summers while studying at Imperial College London. At McLaren Racing, he helped them embed a technology, that would show the track flags on steering wheels.

Out of little interest in academics, he used to code in his free-time and was building apps for platforms like Facebook in 2007. When the iPhone launched in 2007 and followed with an App Store in 2008, he jumped at the opportunity to build something for the platform. While he was in his final year at college in 2008, he brought together a few friends to build MoviesNow for iOS, a movie-ticketing app in collaboration with movietickets.com. The app went on to garner over 500K downloads and was one of the first mobile apps to integrate bit-streaming and mobile payments (back in 2009).

Seeing the potential of smartphones and data, Kavin moved back to India and founded Hike. Today, Hike is building Rush, India's most exciting gaming universe. A place that channels the competitive spirit of India where consumers can Play, Compete & Win. Rush by hike is now rumoured to be doing over $10M in Gross Revenue ARR, They are actively building Rush as a Web3 platform so that consumers can become owners in the network to participate in the economic upside of the platform and help shape the future of the gaming universe.

Kavin was featured in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2017.[10]

Kavin was part of 35 under 35 Entrepreneur magazine 2016 list.[11]
