Articles relating to the Ishmaelites, a tribal confederation of Iron Age Semitic-speaking tribes of the ancient Near East, which inhabited a part of the Arab world. They are named after Ishmael, a prophet and patriarch in the narrative of the Quran and Book of Genesis, the first son of the prophet and patriarch Abraham and matriarch Hagar.
