Administrators' newsletter – January 2022

News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2021).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following consensus at the 2021 RfA review, the autopatrolled user right has been removed from the administrators user group; admins can grant themselves the autopatrolled permission if they wish to remain autopatrolled.

Arbitration

Miscellaneous

  • The functionaries email list (functionaries-en@lists.wikimedia.org) will no longer accept incoming emails apart from those sent by list members and WMF staff. Private concerns, apart from those requiring oversight, should be directly sent to the Arbitration Committee.

Requesting help from IP vandal

Hello. I am messaging you via a ban which I feel was made in error on the WikiSource Username equivalent on. I have been canvassed by an IP to make edits to the Horror film article here on wikipedia across several wikis (WikiQuote, WikiSource, other language wikis, etc.). They are of an IP hopping user Jinnifer [further information can be found here]. Is there a way to lock/delete my page on WikiSource? I tried reporting them there, but maybe i said a word you aren't supposed to use? (st***er?) as they have used names similar to my own on other wikis to further ask me to edit. You can see their similar edits here. Would you be able to help? Thank you in advance. Andrzejbanas (talk) 03:26, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I can see the talk page has been deleted. As for the block, that was applied automatically by an edit filter and has now expired. It does appear to be a false positive, I'm sorry, but I don't think I should disclose what exactly triggered it. I'll see if I can raise the filter issue on Wikisource. 🎄BethNaught🎄 (talk) 10:03, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
