Ian Seabrook is an underwater cinematographer in the motion picture and television industry, active in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and worldwide.
He is known for his underwater and second unit cinematography[1]. Seabrook is also a professional diver. [2]. [3]
Career
Seabrook began his career as a stills photographer, photographing underwater in Australia on the Great Barrier Reef. He transitioned to working as an underwater cinematographer in 1998. In 2018, Seabrook photographed underwater sequences for Disney’s Jungle Cruise (film)[4] [5] [6], the feature-film adaptation of the company’s amusement park ride. In 2020 Seabrook photographed National Geographic Documentary Films’ The Rescue (2021 film) with filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. This is a documentary about the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue in Thailand, recreating the cave-diving team's work in extracting the stranded people. [7]His other underwater cinematography work includes M. Night Shyamalan’s Old (film) and the Netflix/Chernin Entertainment live-action film adaptation of Slumberland (film), based on the comic book series by Winsor McCay.
Seabrook's underwater photography can be seen in the films Old (film) [8], Deadpool 2 [9], Man of Steel (film), Batman v Superman [10], It Chapter Two and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
In addition, Seabrook has photographed second unit on other films, including: Netflix’s Army of the Dead for director Zack Snyder, Finch for Miguel Sapochnik and Season One of the Apple TV+series See, starring Jason Mamoa and Dave Bautista, for director Francis Lawrence.
Seabrook has also been credited for episodes of television shows including See (2021), The Twilight Zone, Supergirl, Lost in Space and The X-Files.
