The result was delete. The "keep" opinions do not cite the reliable sources that would be needed to retain this article. Sandstein 19:04, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Paintball player of questionable notability. No significant coverage found from independent reliable sources - all provided references are either primary sources or blogs. Google news search on "Daniel Ortiz" paintball shows no results. Standard search on the same shows no significant coverage - mainly social media, unreliable sources, and Wikipedia mirrors. Is truth, if you search in google "Daniel Ortiz Paintball" and you search for news isn't appear, but if you search in google daniel ortiz and you search on images too many pictures and histories about him appear, i don't think that te article need to be eliminated because you have to be one of the worlds best paintball players to appear in google news... But if you search him by his team the "Los Angeles Ironmen" his team appear in news... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Truquero57 (talk • contribs) 17:05, 17 January 2012 (UTC) — Truquero57 (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic. - Truquero, what we are looking for specifically, are independent publications in sources with editorial control, which cover Ortiz more than trivially (see WP:42). If you could find some of those, that would tremendously improve the article, and also probably sway this AfD. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 22:04, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I created this article, and I created because I think that he is a relevant person, i'm a directive from the Venezuelan Paintball League and from the Paintball Sports Promotions (named too PSP) and I consider his team like one of the best teams of the world. - Delete - A recreational activity is not a sport, they get no special consideration at WP:NSPORTS. Sourcing to blogs, youtube and a paintball league ranking site fall well short of the general notability threshold. Tarc (talk) 17:41, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry but, paintball is an sport, a xtreme sport for be more specific, a paintball player won't going to appear on ESPN or a sport page like that... If wikipedia won't consider like a sport sorry for wikipedia but it is an sport. Oliver Lang (one of the best paintball player) has his biography on wikipedia Oliver Lang because he is the best of the world, now I got a question, only the best of the world appear in wikipedia? this guy is the #19 in latin america and sorry if I wrong but I think that he is relevant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paintballxtreme (talk • contribs) 17:50, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment - I see only three articles for paintball players on WP : Oliver Lang , Ryan Podesta and Colt Roberts. The latter one has also been tagged for lack of proper sources since 2008. Most paintball teams are not notable enough to have their own WP article, as we can see here: List of professional paintball teams. Then how are their players supposed to be notable? So paintball players will definitely need coverage in independent reliable sources to satisfy WP:GNG. I can't find it for Daniel Ortiz. MakeSense64 (talk) 18:22, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete due to lack of significant coverage in multiple reliable sources. Paintball may be an extreme sport, but that doesn't exempt its players from meeting the general notability guidelines. —C.Fred (talk) 02:28, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- delete There does not appear to be any significant coverage in reliable sources of him. Some of the sources in the article do not even mention him. GB fan 19:43, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep I just say, if wikipedia have more information will be a better page, more information, more efficient, more help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paintballxtreme (talk • contribs) 02:46, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- If there were information—that is, reliable sources—to build a page about him, I'd say to build one. There aren't any independent sources, though, and the primary ones that keep getting added to the article don't always support the claims they're trying to be used for. —C.Fred (talk) 02:51, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't think that this article would be eliminated, I mean he is and sportsman, he isn't anybody, last year I go to Argentina and see a paintball game and I saw this guy signing autographs and taking pictures with girls. To be 16 years old is something that few can do. But like C.Fred say, is difficult to find pages about it, there is but really is hard find it. I guess that because he is an under age guy must beware of the paparazzi and people like that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paintballxtreme (talk • contribs) 02:57, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep I'm from latin America, from Brasil more specific and I know who is he, and is true, he never give interviews to the news, I think that the article should keep but search for more references... - Keep I searched in the list of PSP official players and I found he. I am fan of this sport and I know he because last year he was named the best new player of paintball in Latin America. I saw his entrance to the Hall of Fame in PSP TV. I already bought my tickets for the CSP Brazil 2012 and he appears in the participant list. - Delete - No evidence of notability at all. Unless someone outside of the world of paintballing has written a reliable article about him (or something similar), then he does not meet our notability guidelines. Being good at something does not automatically make you notable (I, for example, am rather proficient at making a cup of tea); unless someone without proper connection to the person writes about it, they are not notable, however good they are.
