  • Comment: the relevant criteria would be WP:NACTOR which she fails. Being an un-named extra is irrelevant and confers zero relevance. Theroadislong (talk) 20:44, 20 April 2022 (UTC)

Jordan Clark (born December 29, 1991) is a Canadian actress and dancer. Although she is best known for winning Season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance Canada, she is well known among teens for her role as Giselle on Family Channel's The Next Step.[1]

Personal Life

Clark was born on December 29, 1991, in Okotoks, Alberta to parents Glenn and Connie Tainsh. She grew up in Tottenham with younger brother Darcy, younger sister Madison, and adopted older sister Dakota. Clark didn't originally want to dance, rather be a gymnast, inspired by seeing a gymnast perform a back tuck. After not being able to find a gymnastic club in her town, her mother enrolled her in a dance school where she could learn acro.[2] In a podcast, Clark recalls, "Seeing ballet barres and being very upset with my mother."[2] Clark eventually found a love for ballet, which led her to more dance, learning a variety of styles from a young age, including, acro, jazz, lyrical, tap, and ballet.[1] As a young child, she auditioned at The National Ballet of Canada and was accepted into their summer program. Clark was not a very good dancer when she began training but found that she was naturally very flexible. At her dance studios, she was left out of competitions along with one other girl, and at eight had her first competition. She performed an acro solo in a snake costume, wearing a snake unitard and headpiece[2]. Later she went to dance at Vlad's Dance Academy, training 35-40 hours a week. She is still friends with Vlad himself today.

SYTYCDC and The Next Step

At eighteen, she auditioned for season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance Canada. She became the Season 4 winner with a jazz duet to Skin, by Rihanna in which her partner, Christian Millette sadly got eliminated.[3] The following summer, at twenty years old, Clark auditioned for The Next Step.[4] She was called in a group of ten to do a piece of choreography and was selected out of her group to answer questions about themselves.[5] She got a final callback with fellow castmate Alexandra Beaton.[6] She met Victoria Baldesarra during filming and recognized her from when Victoria competed against her younger sister, as Victoria was only thirteen.[7] In an Australian 'Dance Matters' podcast, Clark states, "I really aspired to act after being on So You Think You Can Dance [Canada], and The Next Step gave me those opportunities.".

Career

Clark was a main on The Next Step from seasons 1-3, with guest appearances in seasons 4, 6 and the Christmas Special. She had a brief appearance on the spinoff show Lost And Found Music Studios in a flashback, as well as in scenes with characters Michelle and Riley. Before her famous win on television, she appeared as a student in Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars[8]a friend and a dancer at a birthday in Frenemies[9], a dancer and camper in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam[10], and Shotsy in Dancin': It's on!.[11] She also appeared in Private Eyes as a dancer. Most recently, she played a school teacher and gymnastics coach Ms. Allister in My Perfect Landing,[5] a gymnastics show created by Frank Van Keeken, the same creator of The Next Step. Castmates from The Next Step also appeared in the show, including Francesca Van Keeken, and Nicholas Maiorano. Currently, Clark is in the acting business as well as working part-time at The Audience Dance Rivalry in Concord, Ontario and On The Floor Dance alongside former costar Jennifer Pappas in Richmond Hill Ontario.[12][13]
