Bouzeguene

Bouzeguene or Wizgane is a Kabyle or Amazigh town in the Tizi Ouzou region of Algeria, 26 km from Azazga.

It is known for its high number of local emigrants in different parts of the world especially in France where the majority left this mountainous area in the middle of Djurdjura to seek for a job under the French occupation. Wizgan was also the cradle of the resistance against the French occupation and the birth place of Colonel Mohand Oulhadj who fought the French Army from the 50s until the independence of Algeria in 1962. The village of Bouzeguene is located in the center of the commune of Bouzeguene and surrounded by twenty villages. The commune is at 60km far east from Tizi-Ouzou and borders the Wilaya of Bejaia with the mountains of AIT ZIKKI with the Col de Chellata, and the Daira of Ighzer Amokrane. All the goods come from Akbou and Tazmalt.

Population.

The population of Bouzeguene is formed of twenty one families who cohabit in the same order of respects and ran by a committee of imgharen tadarth who have meetings to take care of the village issues. At Wizgane is made of seven different ancestral tribes: At thou AAbbas, Ath Wakli, At ammar, Imourhoumene' etc.

Bouzeguene Is one of the most beautiful mountainous areas in Algeria during the winter the mountains are covered with beautiful flakes of snow that can cover the whole area until Azaghar. Also it is covered with a green flowery cover during the spring time. Bouzeguene is very rich in olive trees to make one of the best olive oil I've ever tasted. The center of bouzeguen or Bouzeguene downtown is called El-Ka where you can find different stores: groceries, butchers, restaurants,bakery pastry shops, taxi phones and especially the coffee shops where you can find different varieties of beverages from soda, juices to the best milk coffee with delicious croissants. every shop has one of the best services I've ever seen in Algeria you can get everything you need with a big smile from different sellers. The other most interesting festivities they have are the summer weddings where you see different people from different places around the world to gather each year for a big celebration in a place called Thahemalth surrounded by beautiful houses.
