Recent evidence shows that the ice at the south pole of Mars decreased in size between consecutive Martian summers [1]. This led to speculation that Mars is experiencing a global increase in temperature similar to the global warming that the Earth is experiencing. However, there is no evidence for such global warming at Mars. In order make such a statement, scientists would need comprehensive temperature measurements across the Martian globe like we have for Earth and would need to more fully understand the numerous long term [2], multi-seasonal [3], and seasonal climate cycles [4] that are still highly uncertain at Mars. Instead what is clear is that Mars is experiencing on-going climate change [5].
