John Thomas Donchak is an American actor, stunt performer, and film producer. He is best known for the role of Sam Amico in Killian & the Comeback Kids.[1] Elements of that film have been preserved by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. [2] Donchak has performed and choreographed stunts for popular television as well as independent and international cinema. [3]

Early life

Donchak was raised in Chicago, Illinois where he attended Loyola Academy before matriculating to and graduating from Fordham University where he studied theatre performance and production.[4]

Career

After a short time in New York's downtown theatre scene working with productions like Fuerza Bruta and appearing in the premiere of Young Jean Lee's Pee Pee Poo Poo Pa Pa Face, [5] Donhcak began working in film. Notable performances include a starring role in the acclaimed musical film Killian & the Comeback Kids, which NPR WDIY noted as one of the film's standout elements.[6] The unique COVID era theatrical release and the subsequent preservation of the film's music and screenplay by The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences passed under his purview as one of the film's producers.[7] After beginning in stunt performance by doubling Josh Groban on the Netflix series The Good Cop, he has appeared as a stunt performer for popular TV series like The Tick and The Sinner (TV series), as well as choreographing action for film luminaries like Wong Kar-Wai.
