Number of Americans who are descended, specifically, from people of American Samoa and people descended from Samoa

I wanted to know if there is data on the number of Americans who are descended from people of America Samoa and the number of descendants of people of Independent State of Samoa. I think it would be interesting to know the number of people with each of these separate origins for and included in the article, perhaps in the introductory section, in brackets next to the total number of Samoan Americans. By the way, good article. I think it was about time someone published an article about a group of Pacific Islanders Americans. In addition, this also is extensive.--Isinbill (talk) 20:15, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Samoans vs. Samoan Americans

I am so confused. I was editing the Hawaii page "Ancestry groups" category under "Demographics" section, but I didn't know how to label the people of America Samoa. First I labeled them as Samoan Americans, then American Nationals then Samoans. The people of America Samoa are not American citizens unless one of their parents is a U.S. citizen...but Samoan Americans are American citizens of Samoan origin. Samoans are split between Samoa, American Samoa and the US, so I guess someone with more knowledge should fix my "population of Hawaii" chart edit to reflect the proper label. American Citizenship Controversy

Perhaps there should be a section detailing the US Citizenship controversy? Considering the SCOTUS choice to not take up the case, many, myself included are probably wondering about this and it seems a notable detail about Samoans and citizenship in the USA. Perhaps someone who has more understanding than me can elaborate on my citizens of a US territory that's been part of the USA for over 120 years are not US citizens? https://www.cbsnews.com/news/supreme-court-birthright-citizenship-american-samoa-insular-cases/ Centerone (talk) 19:50, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
