Games
Artix Entertainment develops a small range of games with storylines that are loosely based off of each other. All of them have anime-style graphics and a fairly simple user interface. The company uses the fictional world of Lore as the setting for its RPGs.
AdventureQuest
Main Article: AdventureQuest
AdventureQuest (AQ) is a browser-based RPG featuring simple gameplay mechanics and turn-based battles. The basic game, coded in Macromedia Flash, is free to play. To become a Guardian requires a one-time payment. Guardians have access to special quests and items that are not available to those who play for free.
The primary in-game currency for AQ is gold; however, a special form of currency called Z-Tokens is required to purchase some items. Z-Tokens can be collected a few at a time as special drops from creatures defeated in battle, or a large amount of Z-Tokens can be purchased by players using real-world money.
The graphic style of AQ is closer to caricature than later game offerings from Artix Entertainment. The contrast between AQ and DragonFable (see below) is particularly noticeable; DragonFable's art is more detailed and less cartoonish, even though DragonFable is actually a prequel to AdventureQuest, taking place some years earlier.
ZardWars
ZardWars is a spin-off of AdventureQuest where almost all monsters players can fight are 'Zards'. Zards are frog-like creatures with claws and are half your character's size. It was originally created as a test bed for a new database structure. Players start out with a Long sword. It is a similar-sized RPG, and players will find similar items as those in AdventureQuest, yet at a lower price. (ie: Golden Plate armor) In addition, a previously staff-only weapon, the Rhublade, may be bought in the Zardwars shop. It should also be noted that currently this game is only accessible to Guardians.
AssaultMecha
AssaultMecha[1] is a game that Artix Entertainment has canceled development of. However, there is a reference to it in Adventure Quest in the form of the Assaultmecha armor, which is now a rare item.
It is said that now there are plans to go on with the project that was formally known as AssaultMecha in the quote "Artix has plans to release at least two more Flash titles in future, including an assault mech game that Adam describes as "so over the top, old school anime style, non-stop destruction." found in the interview at mpogd.com[[2]]
DragonFable
Dragonfable is a game created by Artix entertainment and is based 5 years before the events in Adventurequest. It is much like Adventurequest and was made as a sequel to the game known as Archknight. it has many differences from the game Adventurequest such as being able to walk around for most parts of the game. it has become very popular and sometimes has more people playing it than its "older brother" game Adventurequest. partly this is because on Dragonfable there is no server cap and free players are allowed on anytime. It also has its own form of guardianship called Dragon Amulets which work in much the same way as guardianship.
AdventureQuest Poker
AQ 'just for fun!' Poker is an AdventureQuest Card Game with AQ characters on the face cards. Players have a limit of innitial bet of 1,000 gold and a regular 52 card deck. It is an adaptation of the well-known card game Poker; players bet gold, completely unrelated to in-game AdventureQuest gold, thus the tag 'just for fun!' This game was released when AQ went offline for matinence.
Initially created by Captain Rhubarb, this card game is now in the process of being updated by AE programmer Zhoom and AE artist Kaley.
Mini Games
Undead Assault was the very first minigame created by Artix Entertainment. You play as a brave Paladin (Artix) and stand against a powerful Undead army. The point of the game is to slay Undead, buy weapons to improve yourself and reach the highest score on the highscore. The music of the game is "Down in the Fields of Agony" by JDFight and the music is also in the "Artix vs. the Undead" Video.
Firespawn is a game based on Dragonfable and the second minigame ever made by Artix Enntertainment. In the game, you control Galanoth, Head of the Order of the Dragonslayers. You must navigate your horse across the desert while evading obstacles and fighting a powerful dragon with your crossbow. To get better ammo, several arrows appear throughout the desert--shoot them to gain more arrows.
In Monster Joust Madness you play "The Hero" in an attempt to defeat all the enemies featured in Adventure Quest.
Ninja Assault is simillar to Undead Assault but with a Ninja theme; many found it disappointing.
Robina's Monster Hunt is a DragonFable-inspired mini game in which the Ranger Robina has to use archery to hit targets, defeat common DragonFable enemies, and eventually fell a dragon.
Dildo Quest
In an attempt to reach out to a new market, Artix will release the game dildo quest on July 19, 2007. You play as the brave paladin Artix, who has discovered his own sexuality. He must travel through the land to find a razor by Venus for his balls so he can hit it off with his boyfriend, getting make-up and increasingly powerful dildos. He will anal rape the corpses of his enemies. The game is expected to use lipstick as currency. There is expected to be a premium version as with all other Artix games. This one will give the character access to gay bars and fireman strip shows. As for the animation, it is expected to use bright and colorful animation, relying on the colors pink, purple, and violet. Weapons will be different kinds of dildos. As for armor, the player goes in drag and uses fabulous scarves rather than helmets. The music is by various artists from the San Francisco underground. The enemies are conservatives, christians, and metrosexuals.
