GITEX GLOBAL (abb. of Gulf Information Technology Exhibition) is the world’s largest tech show, organised by, and taking place at, the Dubai World Trade Centre in the United Arab Emirates. [1] The record 42nd edition in October 2022 hosted more than 5,000 companies [2] and over 100,000 attendees from 170 countries, spanning two million sq. ft of exhibition space, matching the scale of 33 football fields.

As a super-connector humanising the virtual and digital economies, GITEX GLOBAL 2022 presented its most empowering curation ever with seven multi-tech themes experimenting in the metaverse, a decentralised future of the internet, and a sustainable global digital economy.

The annual five-day event underpins the transformations, investments, and projects shaping international business and societies, while its largest ever edition in 2022, and continued expansion, mirrors the ambitions of the UAE and Middle East’s digital transformation movement.

Over the years, GITEX GLOBAL has enhanced its international influence, expanding its footprint beyond the Middle East and reaching a far wider audience from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America. The event has also become an annual agenda for biggest names in the global tech world, including Microsoft, Huawei, IBM, Dell Technologies, Ericsson, Avaya, Honeywell, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, e&, Lenovo and Cisco.

GITEX GLOBAL’s remarkable growth is spurred by ebullient market demand across all industry sectors, with no less than 1,400 new exhibitors in 2022 among the global line-up of companies and start-ups showcasing ground-breaking applications in the metaverse, AI, Web 3.0, blockchain, 6G, cloud computing, fintech, mobility, and big data. [3]

The record-breaking 42nd edition of GITEX GLOBAL featured more than 5,000 exhibitors.

With the participation of more than 250 government entities [4] leading strategic digital projects and public-private partnerships [5], and over 1,000 speakers across 14 dedicated conference tracks delivering 500-plus hours of engaging content,[6] GITEX GLOBAL unites the world’s most influential ecosystems advancing business, economy, society and culture.[7]

History

The show was launched in 1981 as GITE and occupied Hall One of the Dubai World Trade Centre. With the launch of MacWorld at the 1988 show, GITEX (with the addition of 'X') expanded to two halls, and for several years has reached full capacity at the DWTC venue.  The mega tech event’s unprecedented expansion in 2022 fuelled the installation of three additional sold-out halls, bringing the total number of halls to 26.[8]

Co-Located Events

GITEX GLOBAL features five multi-tech sector events, including Global DevSlam, X-VERSE, Ai Everything, Fintech Surge, and Marketing Mania. The 43rd edition will take place from 16-20 October 2023 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Global DevSlam is supported by Coders (HQ) and inspired by the UAE’s mission of building the world’s best coder and developer ecosystem, with the country now offering its long-term residency Golden Visa to 100,000 qualified coders from around the world. Running for four days, it also includes Pycon MEA, welcoming the worldwide python community and featuring a line-up of renowned Python masters.
