The Saeki (佐伯) were a people of ancient Japan, believed to have lived on Honshū in the area between the modern regions of Kantō and Hokuriku during the Jōmon period.[disputed (for: The Jōmon period is about 1,000 years before any mention of the Saeki -- they are only talked about starting from the reign of Yamato Takeru, possibly around 100 CE if the legends are to be believed.)  – discuss]
