Does not appear to meet WP:BAND: no major tour, no awards, no singles, no albums released on major or even notable label. Article created by what appears to be a WP:SPA. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:11, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There are many issues with that statement by Walter Görlitz.
Major tours for this year alone include: The Southern Swing Tour: http://www.indievisionmusic.com/2012/04/07/red-cord-records-announces-the-southern-swing-tour/ The April Assault Tour: http://www.itickets.com/tours/1192.html The Firestar Tour: http://www.redcordrecords.com/tours/ John the Revelatour 2012 European Tour: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/righteousvendetta
Singles include: The Dawning InTents John, The Revelator This Pain (This was released today 7/6/12) http://righteousvendetta.com/
What is the definition of a "major or even notable label"? Seems as though personal preference may be influencing this determination. Red Cord Records currently has 23 total artists signed to their label. Here's their artist page that shows and list every band they have signed: http://www.redcordrecords.com/artists/. Red Cord Records has also produced over 40 albums.
My appearance as WP:SPA is misconstrued as this is the first article that I have written.Mikmania —Preceding undated comment added 17:23, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. I can find no aspect of WP:BAND that is met by this group. I disagree with Mikmania that a roster of 23 artists denotes a major independent label -- one way I have found that guides me in discerning that is whether the label in question has a Wikipedia page; Red Cord Records does not and I believe is unlikely to meet notability requirements to sustain one. Also, as criterion #5 says, "an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers many of whom are notable" -- the company was established in 2008 and, of bands considered sufficient notable to have a Wikipedia article, I found one mention of such a band having released an album via Red Cord. Criterion #4 doesn't require merely that they have toured, so the list of completed and proposed tours is not especially relevant; the criterion requires "non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country", and I found very little that even qualifies as "non-trivial coverage" -- which also disposes of criterion #1. There are no assertions that the band in question meets any other criterion of WP:BAND and I found nothing to make me think that another criterion has been overlooked. (No charting songs or albums, musical competition wins, national airplay, feature of a substantial broadcast segments, etc.) To sum up, I can find no evidence of notability sufficient to meet WP:BAND and there are not enough reliable sources to bolster any claims of notability that I see here. - So you want me to make a Red Cord wiki page in order to make it a notable label? Why can Inhale Exhale, also with Red Cord Records, have a Wikipedia page and contain no sources but Righteous Vendetta can not? The sources provided are straight from the source, the band members. Within the sources are transcripts from interviews with the band. [[Mikmania}} — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikmania (talk • contribs) 20:34, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment. (a) No, in fact, I suggest that you not bother making a Red Cord wiki page because I doubt that it would qualify. (b) (i) Because Inhale Exhale has released three albums on Solid State Records, as is clear from the page; I haven't investigated, but they do have an article so I presumed that company was notable; (ii) there's a policy around here called other stuff exists that "X has an article so why can't Y" is not a really useful argument in a deletion discussion, for reasons contained at the page I've linked. (c) it is precisely because "the sources provided are straight from the … band members" and that the "sources" are "transcripts from interviews with the band" that they do not count as reliable sources. Those are primary sources and they're not used, by and large, to bolster Wikipedia articles. We're looking for things that meet the criteria outlined in WP:BAND, and things that the band says about itself don't really count. I hope this helps you understand the criteria that are being applied here and how these discussions work; if you need further information, feel free to leave me a note. - Ubelowme Thank you for your explanation. What you have stated does in fact make sense. Since the article does not state matter of opinions such as "Righteous Vendetta is a great band" wouldn't it make sense that historical information, which is what the page is mostly used for, would be preferable if it came from the individuals themselves? I'm new to the whole creating articles, and even editing in general so these questions are not to question decisions but rather to further my understanding of the policies.Mikmania — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikmania (talk • contribs) 20:57, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete. Red cord falls short for wp:music#5. Lacks independent coverage in reliable sources. duffbeerforme (talk) 13:17, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
