GA Review

[edit]
GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
A few instances of "Ben Franklin" instead of "Benjamin Franklin". Ben Franklin is a crafts store, not a high school. And for God's sake, lose the trivia section. Trivia sections are bad. is the list of courses really relevant?
  • The thing about "Ben Franklin" is that it's one of the most commonly used nicknames for the school, which is mentioned in the lead. It's often how people distinguish between this school and Franklin High School in Franklin, Louisiana. But if it's really an issue, I'll go ahead and change those instances. As for the trivia section, I agree that it could be better incorporated, but I was also under the impression that Manual of Style guidelines were strongly recommended for GA articles, not required. Regardless, I'll start to see if I can get rid of the trivia section. --Jh12 (talk) 03:35, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  1. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
No problems here, except the sources shouldn't have bold italic text in them. Fix that please.
  1. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  2. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  3. It is stable.
    No edit wars etc.:
  4. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
Maybe a couple more images of the actual school, inside and out.
  5. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
There are a few too many lists, such as "notable alumni", and the trivia section needs to go.
  • I'm not sure about the course listing either. I think perhaps I'll remove it for now until a section properly describing the curriculum can be created. The notable alumni list is tricky, partly because it's a recommendation of Wikiproject Schools, yet it 's still a bit too short to merit its own page as with Stuyvesant_High_School#Notable_people. It's also largely discretionary as to who is worthy of inclusion. Not quite sure what to do about that. I think the main issue definitely is a few too many lists. Whether that makes it unworthy of GA is your call. Thanks! --Jh12 (talk) 03:35, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Much better now. I'll add another one of these, since I don't know how to strike out fields in the {{GAList}} template.
