Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi (born 12 July 2000),[1][2] known professionally as Seyi Vibez,[3] is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is known for his breakthrough single "Chance (Na Ham)" from his second studio album Billion Dollar Baby which debuted at No. 19 on the UK Afrobeats singles chart and peaked number 7 on the TurnTable Top 100 chart.[4][5]

Early life and career

Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi was born on 12 July 2000 in Ketu, Lagos State, where he spent his early life before moving to Ikorodu, Lagos State, where he grew up. Seyi Vibez debuted in 2019 with his single "Anybody". He first gained popularity in 2021 following the release of his single "Godsent",[6] same year he released his debut studio album No Seyi No Vibez (NSNV),[7] his second studio album Billion Dollar Baby with the Mixtape "Billion Dollar Baby 2.0" was released in 2022,[8][9] the album peaked number 1 on the Turntable 50 albums chart.[10] Same year he was cited as one of the 16 African artistes to watch by MoreBranches.[11]

On 6 January 2023, Seyi Vibez released his 5 tracked debut Extended play, "Memory Card",[12][13][14][15][16] with guest feature from American rapper YXNG K.A. First week of launching the Ep, it garnered over 6.30 million streams with four track from the Ep dominating the Turntable top 10 chart and was listed by Pan African Music as one of the 10 best albums of January 2023.[17][18]

On February 2, 2023, "Let There Be Light" by fellow Nigerian star Zlatan featuring Seyi Vibez was released. The song debuted at No. 14 on Apple Music top 100 Nigeria chart.[19][20][21][22]

Music career

Seyi Vibez gained recognition for his unique musical style and powerful vocals. Despite numerous offers from record labels, he has chosen to remain independent throughout his career, opting for creative control and freedom.

2020: Vibez Tracks (EP)

Seyi Vibez debut EP was released in 2020., It includes five tracks, 'Bamishe, Anybody, God Sent, Mama, Normally'.

2021: NSNV - No Seyi; No Vibes

NSNV, also known as 'No Seyi, No Vibes,' was Seyi's second musical project as a lone artiste without featuring any other person but himself on the album. The album consists of eight tracks and became the anthem of the hood when it dropped.

2022: Billion Dollar Baby

Billion Dollar Baby become Seyi's third album and brought in into limelight with the hit track 'Chance (na ham)' from the album. Billion Dollar Baby is was an anticipated album with 3,150 album units on turntablecharts in just two days of release. Burna Boy become fan of Seyi Vibes when he was spotted singing and dancing to the lyrics from 'Chance (na ham)' word-for-word.

2022: Billion Dollar Baby 2.0

The Billion Dollar Baby 2.0 was the continuation of the first version of 'Billion Dollar Baby'.

2023: Memory Card (EP)

On 6 January 2023 Seyi Vibes released the EP. Memory Card

Feud with Zinolessky

In recent times, Zinoleesky found himself embroiled in a feud with fellow Nigerian artist Seyi Vibez. The conflict between the two singers escalated when they took to social media to exchange words and air their grievances. The feud started with Zinoleesky advising Seyi Vibez to revert to his previous musical style and also suggesting improvements for his studio. Seyi Vibez, in response, urged Zinoleesky to refrain from speaking until he could afford a new house, alluding to Zinoleesky's recent purchase of a new property.

The public dispute between Zinoleesky and Seyi Vibez has attracted significant attention within the music industry and among their respective fan bases. Okay Africa listed "Alaska" a single from his debut extended play as one of the best songs in Nigeria.[23]
