A barnstar for you!

The Photographer's Barnstar
There was no 'satellite imagery barnstar' on the list of barnstars, so I decided I'd give you this instead, for your tireless and amazing satellite-related contributions to Wikipedia. And also for helping me on Discord. ModulatedRotation - Talk here 19:41, 13 September 2020 (GMT)

Track map of Cyclone Daniel

Can you recreate the track for Medicane Daniel? I found its track data here: https://zivipotty.hu/2023_daniel.pdf. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2405:4802:1CE4:F900:A537:E01:8410:AFBA (talk) 10:30, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm reluctant to change the data just yet. Herinc David is probably the best expert source so far, but there are a few things that make me pause. One being that such a significant systems will likely have a peer reviewed paper released in the future which will have a higher quality data. Another is the classification of Daniel as a tropical cyclone is still not concrete. There are sources that claimed it was sub-tropical. Also CIMSS and Met Office I don't believe have explicitly classified the system. The diagnostics pages claim TC but this is just a placeholder for systems they track regardless of nature of the system. For example subtropical storms tracked in the Atlantic have the same labels. I will wait until the Australian Severe Weather page updates with the track data before making a change in a few months time. Their assessment of the system should increase confidence of a classification if it is indeed tropical. Then if a peer reviewed study provides tracking data, a track created from that source. Track map of medicane

Can you create a tracking map for the three medicanes that don't have a tracking map on wikipedia (Blas, Zorbas, Numa)? And here is its data:

I'll get around to it when I have some free time. Supportstorm (talk) 05:43, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
