Md Lutfor Rahman was a Colonel in the Bangladesh Army in the corps of Artillery. He served in the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Rifles(now known as BGB). He was the Commanding Officer of 24 Rifles Battalion Bangladesh Rifles in Pilkhana, Dhaka when he was brutally killed in the Bangladesh Rifles Mutiny.
Career
[edit]Md Lutfor Rahman joined the Bangladesh Military Academy in 1983, and was commissioned in the regiment of artillery on 19 May 1985 with 12th BMA Long Course. He is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College (Bangladesh). He worked with the United Nations as a Military Observer in Georgia (UNOMIG mission) and in the Western Sahara peace keeping mission(MINURSO).
Md Lutfor Rahman captured Khaled Saifullah, the sixth Majlish-e-Shura member of the Bangladeshi militant group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) at Chapainawabganj on 5 April 2006. At the time of the operation Lieutenant Colonel Lutfor was the commanding officer(CO) of BDR 6 Rifles Battalion at Chapainawabganj.
In 2008 he was appointed as the Commanding Officer of 24 Rifles Battalion at Pilkhana BDR Headquarters, where he was killed during the Bangladesh Rifles revolt.
Personal life
[edit]The Colonel married Munmun Rahman. They had a son and a daughter.
Death
[edit]He was assassinated in the Bangladesh Rifles mutiny on 25th February 2009. He was buried in Banani Army Graveyard.
