Plot
[edit]It's never meationed that the Miami Sharks, the main team, makes it to the Pathrenon Cup. The movie shows them beating Dallas, meations beating Minnesota, and being defeated by San Fansico, but meations nothing bout them making it to the Cup. IMO, if it's like the NFL playoffs, they beat Dallas in the wildcard playoffs, beat minnesota in the divisional playoffs, but lose to San Fansico in the conference finals, which is one step below the super bowl. This polt makes better sense, snice Al Pacino's charitther meations SF going on to win the cup, rather then being beaten by them in the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.13.37.3 (talk) 04:44, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Just watching it right now... the announcer says that the winner of the Miami-Dallas Playoff Game will advance to the Conference Championship against Minnesota. Combine that with the fact that they were eliminated by San Fransicso and we have either an error in the plot, or the conclusion that the Sharks beat Minnesota to win the Conference, then lost to San Fran in the Pantheon Cup game. If we're right in believing that the AFFA is a 16-team league (prior to Albuquerque's entrance at the end of the film), then this is plausible/reasonable. Might be best to note that it's just speculation, since all we know is the above. 67.54.206.177 (talk) 15:37, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Please source this trivia
[edit]Please source this trivia and re-add to the article. Thanks, Chaz Beckett 16:58, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Al Pacino and Jamie Foxx are the only two actors to be nominated for both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor Oscar awards in the same year. Both won the former but not the latter.
- The red jerseys of the fictitious Minnesota Americans are similar to that of the jerseys worn by the real-life New England Patriots, who wore red jerseys until 1993. The helmets of both of the teams are very similar to each other. Also both of the teams themes are similar as well. (Americans and Patriots)
- According to IMDB, Oliver Stone wanted to use the music of Godspeed You! Black Emperor in the soundtrack, but the members of the band refused.
- French title is L'enfer du dimanche ('Hell on Sunday').
- In some TD scenes, the scoreboard automatically gives the scoring team 7 points w/o them kicking the extra point (though kicking the extra point is mentioned during the Sharks game against the Americans). The real life WFL awarded 7 points for TDs, but had the scoring team do a 2 point conversion afterwards worth 1 point (dubbed the "Action Point").
- In Miami's game at California, the game scenes are actually filmed at Dolphins Stadium in Miami, home of the NFL's Miami Dolphins.
- Jamie Foxx and LL Cool J were known to have had a rucus on the set of the film, owning to fued which has developed between the two over their careers. On the track "U Cant fuck Wit Me" of LL Cool J's the GOAT album he says: "Once and for all, what's my opinion on Jamie Foxx? He pussy. Pussy ain't funny as Chris Rock, Ha" The two have since ended the feud.
-Note: the trivia regarding the TD scenes might be due to a filming error. For example, during the Sharks-Crusaders game, the score was listed as 21-17 Crusaders, immediately prior to a play where the Sharks scored a touchdown, going up 24-21; however, during the play, a shot of the scoreboard is shown, depicting the score at 24-21 before the play was completed. 67.54.206.177 (talk) 18:42, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
