Notability

[edit]

After reading the article, I am not particularly convinced as to why Miervaldis Birze is notable for an inclusion to Wikipedia. Being a Holocaust survivor is not quite enough to meet the notability guideline standards. I have tagged the article accordingly. Talk/♥фĩłдωəß♥\Work 19:54, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I originally translated this small article on Birze because of the availability of his account of the Holocaust. I figured that the author of a book about the Holocaust from a Latvian view deserved mention. After looking at the page view stats, though, I can see that there isn't much interest, which is too bad. I can add a link to his book to the relevant Holocaust pages if the article is deleted, which would serve the same purpose.--INeverCry 21:10, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The basic criteria for notability of a person is really what needs to be met. There are absolutely no secondary sources in the article that confirms this person even existed. Whether people are interested in this article or not has no relevance to the notability of the person in question. Talk/♥фĩłдωəß♥\Work 21:24, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
PS. Having written a book does not make a person notable, unless the person is notable for this book in particular, which needs to be confirmed by secondary sources. Talk/♥фĩłдωəß♥\Work 21:33, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I managed to find a reliable secondary source to confirm the notability of Birze. Talk/♥фĩłдωəß♥\Work 17:06, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
