Vanished user

A user that you approved a vanish for last May[1] has reappeared under a different username[2] (registered this past December). At the time they vanished, they were in the middle of an ANI report about their editing behavior, though it does not look like that discussion was going to end in any sort of sanctions; that said, their old account was littered with edit warring warnings, as is their new one, and the tone and content of their interactions with others are not promising.

Normally, I'd just file an SPI, but from a good faith standpoint, it's possible this editor may not realize they aren't just supposed to start over with a new account, since they previously explicitly outed the connection[3]. Similarly, this edit[4] might just be unfounded boasting, or it might be an indication of socking history. I thought I'd bring this directly to you to possibly handle it more gently, but if you think I should file an SPI instead, let me know. Grandpallama (talk) 03:14, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why you are coming to me about this. This is outside of what I normally do. ~ GB fan 12:37, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just out of deferenkce to you as the admin who did the vanishing, in case there were circumstances I wasn't aware of (e.g., some sort of privacy or harassment issue for the user tied to the original name) that would make drawing attention to it a mistake. From your reaction, I guess not, so I'll just take it to SPI. Grandpallama (talk) 15:08, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't approve any vanishing. I deleted a user page. Anyone can request their user page be deleted for any reason. Deletion of a user page is not vanishing. Cabayi is the user that actually accomplished the vanishing. ~ GB fan 15:17, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops! So he did. My apologies for the mix-up; no wonder you were perplexed. Grandpallama (talk) 15:55, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of "Balustrade"

Hi, you reverted my proposal to delete Balustrade (note that it's a redirect). Unfortunately you did not indicate what other approach may be suitable - that's a bit unhelpful :-(. Could you participate in the discussion on Talk:Balustrade to find a solution? Sebastian (talk) 20:33, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sleske, There are two options available. If a valid speedy deletion criterion applies, you can nominate it using that criterion. If a valid speedy deletion criterion does not apply then you will need to use redirects for deletion. ~ GB fan 20:54, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'll look into it. Sebastian (talk) 21:15, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
