[edit]Someone should place more information into the info box. I'm having a hard time trying to find enough information for it.
Population
[edit]Are population influxes like that common? From the '04 to '06 census, the population rose about 40,000 people. Is that accurate? (Nbmatt 21:04, 11 April 2007 (UTC))
Just looking at the demographics and if you add up the percentages (71% white + 2% black etc...) the numbers don't add up to 100. I may not be registered but I sure ain't lying! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.203.145.9 (talk) 01:16, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Nicknames
[edit]Are the nicknames really necessary? I of course have heard Cookevegas and Cookieville but Comptonville sounds fishy. If it was up to me I'd just remove them, they are unverifiable anyway. But we'll see what you people have to say first, eh? Danthemankhan 04:48, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- I have lived in Cookeville since 1981 and I have never heard it called Comptonville by anyone. Cookevagas, yeah, a few times when I was young. I say remove them. --DanteAgusta (talk) 12:22, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Remove the last nickname, but I sometimes call it Cookieville. I think it is funny. Avain5grade (talk) 19:28, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
Notable residents
[edit]Removed the apparently farcical line "After consuming one of his fellow players, Noblit lost his contract." The article stub for Jason Noblit is flagged as being of questionable notability. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rataan (talk • contribs) 13:40, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
Credit.com article
[edit]I suggest removing the reference to the credit.com article in the economy section. The article is a very poor abuse of statistics, in that it does not account for demographics, purchasing power parity, or areas that are not part of metropolitan or micropolitan statistical areas. Around 1/3 of Cookeville's population consists of college students with little or no income, which considerably drags down the median income. Cookeville also has a very low cost-of-living compared to most of the nation. Furthermore, the article claims to list "The poorest areas in America," but does not consider areas that are outside of metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas. Such areas are largely rural areas which tend to have lower median incomes than metro and micropolitan areas. While the article's source median income data from the Census may technically be true, the way the article used the data is not meaningful, so I suggest removing the reference.
As for cost-of-living, here is a relatively recent (2012) source that lists Cookeville as being the 9th cheapest city in the U.S.:

Temp
[edit]The Temps in Climate Data are nowhere near reasonable. Someone needs to double-check and put up accurate numbers. 2602:306:367A:5EC0:49FC:3360:37F6:4123 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:57, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- It appears whoever keyed in the data accidentally used the average monthly lows for the average monthly highs, leading to the ridiculous figure of 44.9 average annual temperature. BrineStans (talk) 19:15, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
