Unlikely Historicity

[edit]

Perhaps the fact that in late July/early August 66 AD, Pella was one of the Hellenistic cities attacked by its pro-revolt Jewish faction living there according to Josephus (Jewish War, Book 2, Chapter 18.1) at a time when Jerusalem would've been safer for a Jew or any Jewish Christian than any Hellenistic city means this is probably a legend. Also Josephus would've probably mentioned such a mass arrival slightly prior.

It would be more interesting to find out how the association of Pella specifically came about, but that question will probably never be answered. Cornelius (talk) 05:12, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
