Issues[edit]

A few of problems.

1) It is no longer widely believed that Sec61 plays a role in retro-translocation.

2) As far as I know the translocon ONLY refers to the homologous Sec61 and SecYEG channels.

3) Not all translocated proteins have signal sequences, for example type II membrane-bound proteins.

4) Translocons also have lateral gates that allow transmembrane domains to anter the lipid bilayer.
