Question - Nazi Germany?

[edit]

How were Salems sold in Nazi Germany, as the page states, if they weren't introduced until 1956? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.11.97.140 (talk) 12:36, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The German Salem Cigarettes were inroduced approximately in 1905 by the german cigarette manufacturer Yenidze (Dresden). They had nothing to do withe the american Salem Cigarettes that were introduced much later.

Removal of "Cigarette brands" category

[edit]

I have removed Category:Cigarette brands from this article because Category:R.J. Reynolds brands is a sub-category of the former. It defeats the purpose of having this subcategory if we're going to list the articles in both. SchuminWeb (Talk) 01:51, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jimi Hendrix smoked Salem's?

[edit]

Two empty packs of 'Salem' cigarettes originally form [sic] the collection of Hendrix' friend Sharon Lawrence

The lot is accompanied by a typed signed letter from Lawrence reading 'My friend Jimi Hendrix smoked the cigarettes in these empty Salem packets during 1970. The empty packs were found in a bag of his belongings he gave me to store for him during that year''

Hendrix died in 1970 and this article states Salem's were introduced in 1973. Which one of these is wrong?

yes, I believe Jimi did smoke Salem 100's. I was just about to create this topic but somebody already did. However my source is from the book The Ultimate Experience, where a fan claims he went up to Jimi's car window and asked him for his hat, to which he said "Sorry man, I can't give up this hat." and the fan insisted he receive something, Jimi looked around and finally gave him a lit cigarette, Salem 100 which the fan kept in a bag for years. MLK

[edit]

Should be in a trivia section that King was shot just as he was about to light a Salem cigarette. See the book by Hampton Sides- "Hellhound On His Trail: The Stalking of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the International Hunt for His Assassin" page 246. 72.209.63.226 (talk) 22:54, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
