Differences between the film and book

There needs to be clear separation of the film and book, eventually there should be a separate page for each. Until then there should be a title of the differences between the two. I have only read the book so I can't do this myself but I've heard some of the differences include the ending and the relationship between Allie and his sons Charlie and Jerry. I believe the book also is more detailed in the cultural beliefs of the natives and the mental suffering endured by Charlie. Jack 19:13, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Differences between the film and book

Why is race selectively identified, "...a local black man." No one else's race is ID'd. I would have deleted this, except possibly there's some element in the story that explains the specificity?

It leapt out at me too, so I changed it. I can't imagine anyone would disagree. The Spinger 14:16, 24 January 2007

This article needs a proper rewrite.

It reads like a junior high theme paper. Agreed? 68Kustom (talk) 21:48, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and 'plot summaries' generally summarize the plot, including the actual events and the ending.58.152.80.152 (talk) 07:32, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would think there should be at least a small mention that the story had a certain parallel to River Phoenix’s life, presumably coincidental.

URGENT ATTENTION

can't be bothered to log in. dont bother trying though. your ubuntu might stop working.

this is obvious. "the mosqito coast" is NOT as this article claims a "film by Peter Weir". It's a very well known novel by a very well known author. It was made into a film.

it's not the policy of this wiki to put derivative works before primary. especially when the primary work is held in much higher regard than the derivative.

And if the mosquito coast is a place on the planet earth, then that is automatically the primary article and all others are disambiguation. Have a little respect. 78.86.176.22 (talk) 02:25, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I lived in Belize when they filmed it, more so , i was physically present at most of the sets,, The 2 main ones. One in Ladyville (belize river), which was nice and close to the workshop and the other one on the Sibun river (fat boy), Also i was in town for the "docking" Mostly there was not enough to do for the californians, they were so bored, they shipped some speedboats in to play with, The main intro here is a bit winded , but i think it was a good film anti american or not.~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Catweasel (talkcontribs) 19:26, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Made by Lucasfilm?

I remember a read on the back of the box for this movie (in a blockbuster store once) that it was made my Lucasfilm which was itself (at least then, now by Disney) a subsidiary of Warner Bros. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.233.107.168 (talk) 04:06, 20 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

iPhone Wikipedia says this is a "Novel by Paul Theroux"

I have the Wikipedia app on my iPhone. When I launch that app and display Wikipedia's "The Mosquito Coast" article, it says "Novel by Paul Theroux" just below the title of the article. That's wrong, of course; this article is about the film, not the novel. But when I take the article into edit mode to correct the problem, I can't find the incorrect code. Where is the incorrect code, and how can this kind of error be corrected? Mksword (talk) 23:28, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
