Hagiography, needs balance

[edit]

This reverential article ignores the outrage expressed in Latino Studies at Paz's dismissal of Mexican Americans as Mexicans who have forgotten their identity and now have none. It's a typical Old Country inability to grasp what happens in America. Paz even praised the "pachuco" for, as he saw it, dramatizing that stateless agony. Richard Rodriguez has written against Paz, and in praise of the Mexican American as American. Profhum (talk) 22:18, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this is important to cover.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  17:07, 9 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Vasconcellos

[edit]

We need to integrate some material about José Vasconcelos and La raza cósmica ('The Cosmic Race') from which Paz further developed la Raza-related ideas.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  17:06, 9 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
